As someone who was born in 1994, I didn’t experience the “beautiful crazy girl” wave firsthand but it was something that became very much a part of my identity as I entered puberty. I’d been in therapy for OCD and behavioral problems since I was 7 so I had always known that there was something different about me. I

The Michael Jackson defense?

It’s not really the affair that’s the problem. It’s that she had a relationship with a subordinate which is deeply inappropriate.

According to Wikipedia it’s hexadecaroon.

What makes me so angry about Diana is that she clearly did love Charles at some point. And I don’t think he ever loved her.

I kind of wonder if Diana had some undiagnosed condition. During my teen years I used to hit my mom in public and private places. I’m not proud of it and for a long time I thought I was mean and abusive but eventually I was diagnosed with autism and my relationship with my mother improved. My mother wasn’t abusive;

I think she was arrested for domestic violence when she was with her girlfriend. So she does have a history of violence. But that doesn’t mean she can’t be a victim as well and Depp also has a history of being violent.

I understand defending someone you like when you think they’re innocent. I’ve done that several times. But I can’t imagine making it your mission to be the Michael Jackson defense squad for free. They must have absolutely no life, and I say this as someone with pretty much zero social life.

I don’t understand how hard it is to believe that a guy well known for his temper might become abusive after falling off the wagon.

But for Johnny Depp? I mean I was completely enamored with him when I was a teen but that was in the 2000s when he still looked handsome and somewhat sober. What does anyone see in him now?

Depp has an insane fanbase. It’s the same with Michael Jackson. Both fandoms spam any post on Twitter that’s critical of them. I wonder if they’re being paid off?

Well, I’m 25 and didn’t grow up with any of this music so it didn’t sound old when I first listened to it about 5 years ago.

So she desperately wants people to believe her when it comes to a made up condition and quack treatments that are almost certainly making her sicker (and may have killed her father) but not when another woman has a pretty credible accusation of sexual assault?

Meghan O’Rourke... is she the same one who wrote that Atlantic article about “chronic Lyme” because I think I may have gotten into a Twitter argument with her.

Where on earth are you getting your sources?

Bowie was never accused of statutory rape either. What he did do was have a lot of sex with groupies and some of those groupies may have been underage. It doesn’t seem like he specifically sought out underage girls. It’s highly likely that some of the men on your list also had sex with underage girls too. Because

Makes sense. I think I feel guilt for not believing the accusation because I’m a fan of Bowie and I worry I’m just letting personal feelings overcome logic. But the thing is if you read the details of the accusation, it’s very bizarre and probably homophobic in nature. Bowie very publicly came out as bisexual in the

No it isn’t. I’m not saying you have to like him or can’t condemn him. I’m just saying it’s very difficult to find an artist who hasn’t done something awful. Like, I’m Jewish. If I rejected all of the artists who had done or said anti-Semitic things, I’d have to reject Shakespeare and Sylvia Plath. I could limit

I feel like at a certain point you do have to accept that artists are people and people are imperfect in some of the worst ways possible. You can limit yourself to women creators but that only really works if you’re a white Christian woman. And being a woman doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t do horrendous things

I mean, I get it, but that behavior was repeated by pretty much every rock star of the time throughout the decade. The way we treat age of consent has really varied so much over time. There’s a limit to how much you can truly ethically consume art.
