Agreed. She also has an unrealistic amount of free time where she’s not too exhausted to hang out with him.

The whole point was that everyone *else* at the Bear put in the time and the work to figure their shit out, and Carmy played a significant role in putting them in the circumstances to do that, but he never did work on himself, not really — he *lost* himself in an immature relationship. It made him feel good and maybe

Exactly. She’s absolutely not a MPDG. She’s basically a normal person, trying to help Carmy be normal too. Almost the opposite of an MPDG.

I mean she’s not a manic pixie dream girl, just like a well adjusted person in a show about being not that.

Something I am curious to see them address next season is how does this not become a viral news story? You have one Yellowjacket dead, one in a straitjacket, and three more on the scene. That not only make will straight news, but that will headline TMZ and gossip/true crime magazines for months, if not years. Their

Some from my Halloween playlist not mentioned:

No “Curse of Millhaven”?  That ain’t right.

I thought the same. The movie probably intends both with simply using the name “Stoppard.”

Fuck.

A real loss to the arts world. An iconic voice and talent that will probably only be truly fully appreciated after his passing, as were Nick Drake and Jeff Buckley. Besides his better known solo works and band discography, he was also a fantastic musical collaborator. Particularly when pairing his baritone vocals to

Yeah, the writing is going to have to be pretty sharp to overcome the “a shitty job in your 20's is a bummer; still having that shitty job in your forties means your life is just shitty” problem, also known as the Kevin Smith.

Maybe she’s the one who made it and they’re working an event for her or something.”

This is the ideal scenario.

God I love Garth Marenghi. Although I never thought it was a spoof on hospitals as much as the schlocky late 80's TV horror offerings, with the brilliant concept of a talent-less horror writer who produces his own show on no budget.

I can hear you, Clem Fandango

Everything he does is great — Snuff Box and Toast of London are well worth watching. Unfortunately it looks like Year of the Rabbit isn’t coming back, because that was fun too.

I think the biggest flaw with Season 5 is that David Simon was trying to do something with the newspaper plot that probably looked brilliant on paper but didn’t translate to TV that well. In particular, they were trying to create a visible absence in the things that the newspaper was completely missing, between the

thiiiis! season two has so much time to breathe and let things land that it makes it that much more devastating. the little things (for instance, ziggy’s duck) that would have to be cut in service of other plotlines in future seasons get to just extend the overall metaphors of the season.

I think it was an attempt to whiten up the show.  But not in a bad way.  Or, maybe put another way, it’s probably the season in which Simon pushed his agenda -- in this case pro-labor -- the most.

Fair enough. There was definitely more happening as the seasons went along. It’s kind of amazing that it hung together at all.

So a bartender is opening up at like 4PM, so the whole place is dead, and a guy walks in. He’s got a suit that could feed a family of four for a decade, and it’s on a body that would put Michael Phelps to shame, and he’s also got a red balloon for a head.
