I was a little disappointed that the interview didn’t delve a little deeper into the Frank Sobotka role. A fantastic, conflicted character and a powerhouse performance.

Season 2 of The Wire is shockingly underrated. The storyline clicked with me far more than Season 1 did and widening the scope beyond the Barksdales was a really wise move.
God, this guy is great. Even in a bad season of a series with some *amazing* performances (and some stinkers), Sobotka stands out as one of the best-acted characters of the entire run.
This weirdly reads like a mini-obituary and I don't like it.
it’s not that anyone necessarily wants these to be ‘quiet’, it would just be nice if the loudness were a little less samey
Write the letter, but don’t send it. There is nothing good that’s going to come out of sending it. You’re right; the best case scenario is that she gets no reply.
That “alternate history” is what did happen when the vikings reached the New World. They decided to leave, to not come back, and not even think about Vinland any more.
This sounds brutal and amazing. Gonna have to steel myself and dive in. I haven’t watched IaNYN, but maybe this will spur me to jump into it next.
Power. That’s gotta be it.
He was great in Ready or Not. Really humanized the “other side” of the story.
I wouldn’t be shocked if a lot of people fucked off after the business with Orlando Jones.
I feel like Jonah is the proper way to satirize “woke” personalities that everyone else is trying to satirize right now. He’s a guy who’s highly educated, clearly means well, and works with a lot of idiots, but chooses to make his points heard at the least appropriate moments and cannot read a room.
I hear that! I have a Canadian grandmother who still remembered singing “The Maple Leaf Forever” as the anthem in her one-room schoolhouse in NS in the 20s. Yeah, it was Brian Mulroney for a while, right? I remember him but not well enough to pick out an actor playing him years later. Liz or Maggie chatting with…
Point of order: What you describe is indeed textbook abuse, and the fact that you are a man and your abusive partner was a woman does not negate the fact. I did read it in a woman's voice. It sounded so similar to a relationship I was in a long time ago that I read it in my own voice. On the chance you're anything…
Textbook abuse is textbook abuse, regardless of the genders involved.
Full disclosure: I did read it in a woman’s voice and you’re spot-on.
I may have the timing slightly off, but I think in 1995 Dana Carvey Show, Mr. Show and The State were all doing more interesting sketch comedy.
I think in both cases, the secondary romantic pairing fulfills the function of the “MacGuffin” in a Hitchcock movie: it’s the device that keeps the plot mechanics in motion, and all the characters in the story are obsessed by it, but the audience couldn't care less.
One aspect I find really interesting is the way the play subverts the idea of having an Alpha couple composed of the main characters, and a Beta couple composed of side character. To anyone watching or reading the play Benedick and Beatrice are clearly the main characters and what most would consider the Alpha couple.…
I like that the YouTube trailer embedded in this article identifies the Branagh film as a “Brian Blessed Movie”.
