I don’t follow Swift’s career much, but my understanding is that she hasn’t written about her exes in years (though she did re-record those albums and filmed accompanying videos).

Wow. So it’s her fault the relationship didn’t work out- because she expresses her feelings in songs? That makes her undateable? Men do it all the time. Poets do it all the time. SMH. He knew who she was when they started dating. MAYBE it’s his fault- he used her to up his status. Or maybe they are just two people who…
I appreciate it too. It’s something I wish my own boss would do because I know for a fact he thinks a lot of our complaints are extremely minor/petty, but if he had to deal with them on a daily basis, I know things would change immediately.
They made it easier for you to sign up for both Uber and Ubereat at the same time. So now you can be exploited by two apps with one sign-up!
I want to see the CEO actually calculate his hourly pay, including the time he is sitting around waiting for a fare, and then time he spends driving back to the city from the boonies.
Or it was a game of telephones. After 3 rounds of ‘executive summaries’, whatever the drivers reported, already got lost and distorted in the 4th hand report.
I worked with Dara for a few years when he was CEO of Expedia. He’s very calm and friendly. He built Expedia into as a large conglomerate as the law allows. He’s from a very wealthy family and all of his friends and associates are incredibly wealthy. I was surprised when Barry Diller announced he would be going to…
Except no he didn’t. Not at all. He knew he could stop driving any time, he knew he was financially secure, and most importantly he knew he could quit tomorrow, go live in a cabin in North Dakota or something, and be financially secure for the rest of his life.
unless he was only allowed to get by on what he got paid driving and had to find a place to live on that money he didnt really do anything. he just took a road trip.
Rent a flat above a shop
Cut your hair and get a job
Smoke some fags and play some pool
Pretend you never went to school
But still you’ll never get it right
‘Cause when you’re laid in bed at night
Watching roaches climb the wall
If you called your dad he could stop it all, yeah
WSJ is paywalled. I'm not reading this shit.
Fair point - I still wonder why a CEO wouldn’t check internally if there was existing company knowledge about the poor experience before setting out on his own. I appreciate the effort to see for himself either way.
I’m in agreement here. Not only did the CEO go out and experience what it’s like, so did other Uber execs. Did that “fix” all the issues drivers have with the platform? Far from it. But with the execs at least having some idea of what issues drivers face on a daily basis, those issues are more likely to be addressed.
Supposedly Amazon does the same with managers working the warehouse floor X times a year. Clearly this works, as Amazon has a spotless record that’s only getting better with time
The narrative is that this is something special. No it's not, this guy and Travis before him should have been doing this years ago, they can feign ignorance but Uber and grab, the Asian app, are grossly exploitative businesses that exploit lowly paid freelancers for profit. This has always been clear and nothing will…
I see that the reaction to this CEO’s story is “meh”, but I like it. It isn’t perfect, but it can provide a template for helping things get better by giving the C-suite a bit more understanding of what’s wrong with their setup.
This is frustrating across so many industries where you know if you were friends with the CEO and told them the issue they would fix it the next day. But instead they filter out all the user feedback
Pretty much. Like most C-Suite types, he’ll remain completely out of touch and make decisions to satisfy shareholders at the expense of drivers.
So uh, this is gonna make zero difference in the long run lol.
