Honestly, this episode instantly reminded me of Lost’s final season,in a HUGE way- not only with the ideological showdown, but with the massive blast that possibly sent its character into an alternate reality! He’s going about his day... little things feel off...It’s the ‘flash-sideways’ all over again, lol.

For weeks now I’ve been hoping this whole thing goes full Evangelion for the finale. And guess what, it kinda is. Elliot and Whiterose laying out their worldviews had a very “Human Instrumentality” vibe to it

I know how this story goes, and it's going to end with Elliot being surrounded by all the characters applauding him and saying "Congratulations"

I don’t know if Gravity Rush 2 fits the bill of “underrated” as it certainly got great critical reception, but it was tragically ignored. It wasn’t a perfect game by any stretch - hello tedious fetch quests quests and story that goes in weird, rambling directions! - but it’s nonetheless one of my favorite games of the

Yeah, but you’re saying that without knowing why Veidt really recorded that video. It does mess with the canon from the comics, sure, but I think it’s fair to give Lindelof the benefit of the doubt, the history of LOST notwithstanding, and see where he’s going with it before we decry this “remix”.

King Mob doesn’t refer to the Invisibles character. It’s a reference to the original comic, in which the Minutemen kept “King Mob’s Ape Mask” under glass in their headquarters, alongside “Moloch’s Solar Mirror Weapon.”

Did you spot anything in the episode suggesting that the scene was perhaps less than 100% accurate? Anything at all?

That’s the “American Hero Story” show-within-the-show, though, and the episode goes out of its way to demonstrate that it gets a lot of stuff wrong. It’s even interrupted by Laurie calling it garbage.

“That version of Veidt is never shown recording a video (and the reference to Redford’s political career is mostly a one-off joke about the divergence from our reality);”

What is with the substandard critical analyses for Watchmen? Multiple times now I’ve seen that the best hot takes have been just being willfully ignorant to the material reviewed, like the show isn’t building up grand mysteries that may explain the questions opinion pieces like this are counting as flaws. A great

Geez, it’s the third episode. How would you possibly have a sense for if it’s going to land.

But they brilliantly undercut all that with Sister Night’s dismissive scoff.

stop watching it. It wasn’t made for you, and it’s none of your business.

I’ve seen more of the opposite online, people unfamiliar with The Leftovers (not exactly a ratings smash) so they reference all of Lost’s failures.

You are the first person I've seen who isn't on board.

“Oh, cool, brick joke.”

Very few people are shitting on it like you are, so you’re wrong.

Even if this show really doesn't stick the landing, yikes, at least it won't be *that*.

Anybody who wants to rehabilitate their impression of Kirk Acevedo could do worse than to look up the late, lamented SyFy series 12 Monkeys (2015-2018) — a TV pitch that seems absurd on its face, but quietly turned into one of the best shows they ever aired.

I will say that AoS, after spinning its wheels for the first half of the season, has pretty much been breakneck Fireworks Factory goodness since the HYDRA reveal.
