Aside from some cheesy dialogue, these actually look fine to me, though Queen Charlize could have just said that the crows would certainly have his eyes if he didn't do her bidding.

Ah... you see the tangible copy as a benefit. I've come to think of it as a hassle and a liability. I've got shelves of DVDs taking up space, and if they get scratched or lost I'm screwed.

Here's a repost of my take on an Ant-Man/Wasp movie from an earlier io9 post (obviously before we knew too much about Avengers). I saw it as a buddy movie, in which neither of them gets anywhere without the other, which is different than what we're discussing, but just in case you find it interesting:

That's actually a great idea of how to kill three birds with one stone: Widow/Hawkeye movie, introduce new Avenger, keep A2 clear of too much backstory.

Very very true (and I would have loved to see her cast as WW back then, too), but ZOE was very much a supporting character. I mean, not only was she not the lead on the show, but her character was supporting of the other characters.

Excellent points- nothing pouty or whimsical or cute about Widow. I didn't mean to say he couldn't do it, but "He writes strong female characters with complexity" is always used when talking about him & WW, and my real point is that that ain't the end of the job description. It also has to be Diana, has to be Wonder

the only problem with her is that her Flying Brick powerset is already represented TWICE by guys they're not likely to get rid of.

The biggest problem with her is that as a flying brick, her basic power set is already represented TWICE by guys they're not likely to get rid of.

I agree that Ms Marvel is the easiest to work into the movie they've already made.

Because they don't care about the genre. They want to capitalize on superhero popularity and they want to do so in the safest way possible.

Because that worked so well the last three times they tried.

I LOVE your take on the MCU Vision, and it would be a natch to get SHIELD scientist Henry Pym involved in that, as well as his fiancé.

Please write a more detailed piece on exactly how researchers determine that that's supposed to be a ladybit. There was a similar discussion in the comments on the story about ancient phalluses, but it didn't go anywhere much. I'd love to see this researched and explained rather than just speculated upon.

Threaten to slowly phase it out, but in the end fail and become a fad while princesses continue to pine after one form of monster or another.

Except that the character of WW is so different than the women he writes and directs so well. He specializes is making the girl-next-door badass. WW is the polar opposite.

I actually blame the outdated model of trying to support shows on advertising. They need to switch the model around- let free, ad-driven TV go the way it naturally wants to go: talk shows, reality shows, schlock journaltainment, and all the other stuff that people turn on in the background or to tune out to.

I wasn't aware that he was paid stupid money to care about us.

Yet the plots, characters, dialogue, acting, and effects all blow the last two trek shows out of the water... and the science is no more laughable, really.

Can you get it on iTunes, Netflix, or some similar service down there?

Both of your ideas destroy the experience of watching the show, and that kills it for me.
