The only form of media I see right now that really strikes me as new is podcasts. Webcomics are still almost entirely weekly or daily, and in the same format as printed comics. Most web content is like that- not much changed by it's jump from an old medium to a new one. Even blogs are either published

They had a shot- it could have been so. The Matrix could have been a legendary starting point IF they had successfully extended the story and the world. Instead, the sequels diminished the protagonists and the concepts while exploding the world.
