You rock. Dead on.

Conan, Holmes, Skywalker, Batman, Kirk, and most of the other characters/properties you mention may have been in established mediums, but they were very definitely from the the "pulp" section of whatever medium they came from. Not the respected, important bit, but the ghetto that was never acknowledged as important

Bringing up Laika just seems mean- like you're trying to ruin my day with thoughts of bad things happening to good dogs.

If you HAVE read the books, you know that this is only her origin. Hatching the dragons is for her akin to Bruce Wayne saying "I shall become a bat!"

SPOILING:

This response made my morning so far. Not that I'm not hoping the day holds something better, but so far you're it!

Maybe it's just my preformed vision of the characters. OTOH, I didn't have any problem accepting Dinkelage as Tyrion, who's supposed to be just ugly on top of his dwarfism.

"14 years old. There's only so much power she can exude"

Yes- Perez was where I first read WW and got how cool the character could be instead of a lame girl Superman! She just dealt with a whole different aspect of the DCU. Sadly, I got to those after his run was done.

Yes- I posted a significant chunk related to this in response to Seranada on another thread here somewhere...

Those guys are shown to highlight the silliness of the outfits, so they're trying to look as cool as possible... including stance.

Yes- I was a Marvel partizan in my youth except for DC's Big Three and some Swamp Thing, so I missed Perez, but I do remember seeing and liking the TT art and noting the different builds of the characters as really cool. I flipped through a few of a friend's issues, but the story seemed impenetrable. I might have

Dunno about the artist- I should have held onto the link for better attribution.

Well, we find other attributes, such as strength, resolve, savagery, etc. sexy in men, while women are still primarily seen as sexy for their shape.

Because the artist is intentionally making them look as dumb as possible, rather than TRYING to make them look cool and letting the stupid outfits speak for their stupid selves.

It really can be done.

Here ya go.

I'm actually tired of the exercise itself. It was cute and made it's point several iterations ago. Versions like this, that do cartoonishly bad male physiques, don't help make the case either- like those weight loss ads where the "before" picture shows them slumping and frowning in poor light, but the "after" pic

"Speaking of which, taking current female supers and de-Pamela Anderson-izing them, giving them physiques more like Olympic athletes, might be coolest of all. Again, it's not like they wouldn't be sexy."

Yeah- I don't think this is as new as the article paints it. I'm a guy, and I found out about the clit extending into the body sometime in the late nineties or early 2000's.
