The people we are arguing with are the same people that claim data can be skewed and don’t believe it, but their personal anecdote should be all the proof you need.

I’m ready. I don’t expect them to be winning races any time soon, but I’m so ready for a shake up that they’ll hopefully cause with existing teams. Heck, even if they can come out of the gates and be competing for points on a consistent basis, it would make me so happy.
The loss of Saturn—heck when they first started to let Saturn wither on the vine—still disappoints me. They seem like the perfect brand in the GM field to be offering Prius/Prime competitors and full EV’s.
Exactly! “Oh man, I only want benefits, not any of the downsides!”
If you are going to invent your non-normal person (excluding kids, potential student loans, retirement savings, emergency expenses, potential health care expenses) why are you going to pretend they are then a normal person?
But the event is affecting all of Vegas; that’s my point. The event is highly localized to the Strip. The most touristy part of the most touristy city in the world. I mentioned Henderson, because if someone actually wanted to just enjoy the benefits of low-cost of living, they are more likely to be in a suburb and…
Ahh, yes, the ol’ boot strap mentality.
Then what do those people have to complain about? It’s not like the race is going through Henderson; it’s right on the friggen Strip. So if your living there to enjoy whatever else Vegas has to offer, just continue to avoid the Strip and the race will have virtually zero impact on you.
My point is that a the typical person can’t save for it. Half of American families can’t afford an unexpected $400 expense. You attribute it to poor spending habits; well, back that up with some data.
If you are busting your ass at a dead end job, that is on you. Get a better job.
You’re the one that implied normal people could afford a $3,800 hotel stay for a 19 day vacation.
So... normal people can’t afford 19 days off work and $3,800 in hotels? Your argument is changing...
I know this may come as a surprise, but not everyone makes great money despite busting their ass at their dead-end job for 20 years. There are LOTS of people who don’t make great money, and thus struggle to do much less than go on a 19 day vacation.
Yeah, “normal” people can’t afford 2.5 weeks straight off work, $3,800 in hotels, and then food/drink/travel on top of that.
It looks so tall and narrow. I don’t love the Lucid Air, but it’s similar design somehow manages look incredibly low and (dare I say) sleek compared to this.
Who the fuck can even afford to stay in a hotel for 19 days anyways?
Correct-ish. The landlord of the single-family house is out of state, like 1,500 miles away out of state.
I’m not suggesting my neighbors are perfect, or that all rental houses are bad, but in my neighborhood the two rental houses on my block are the only ones that consistently disrupt the neighborhood; one of them even had a shooting three weeks back. One is a duplex (both units rented) the other is a whole-house rental.…
Why corduroy/washboard concrete isn’t more common on boat ramps is beyond me.
Not that I agree with their calculations, but the idea of creating equivalencies between two differing units of measure isn’t that crazy, and heck, it’s actually a good way to simplify things often. Your general take on that is dumb as hell, as demonstrated in your sub-headline.
