Is anyone surprised by this? There is limited stock of PS5s and nobody in Japan cares about XBox.

The entire gameplay was so much better than in Super Metroid. I played Super Metroid for three first time in 2020 and didn't make it all the way till the end because it just didn't grip me enough. Dead had great pacing and excellent, challenging boss fights that I don't recall from Super Metroid.
Funny how our experiences were the exact opposite. I had a great time with Hades gameplay, but in Disco Elysium it really was the writing that pulled me in. I didn’t care much for the gameplay at all.
Mh, now I wonder if I played all the way to the real ending.
I’ve put lots of time into Hades and got the ending. However, the story and especially side stories didn’t pull me in much. The dialog was too long for the quality of writing and strength of story to carry. I’d read Disco Elysium immediately in book form. I wouldn't touch a Hades book with a stick.
I’m not surprised by that because there is always recency bias in these types of polls. I don't have an issue with the list though. I can see how it accurately reflects what games people in Japan would put on their individual top lists. To be fair my top 5 include Disco Elysium and probably Outer Wilds which I also…
This mostly only works with similar time zones. The labor market also isn’t a zero sum game and it’s good for the average person if work and money go to the person having the most need sand talent regardless of location
Thank you for bringing an honest and concrete angle to house this impacted gamedev. Having seen either no productivity decrease or even an increase in non-gamedev software development I was really curious what's so different about gamedev
I honestly don’t understand why games are delayed this much by the pandemic. I don’t work in games, but in tech and for my company and much of what I hear from friends at other companies productivity had stayed the same or even gone up. It also required almost no process changes. All artifacts including design…
Woah, I just noticed that there are a bunch of Zelda installments including Skyward Sword, but A Link to the Past isn't even on the list. While aLttP is my personal favorite I understand why many people like Breath of the Wild or in the car of young people Occasions better, but III not even being on the list?!
Undertake being on there and so high up is a huge surprise.
I’ve read and enjoyed enough of Mike's writing that is happily contribute to a Let's Get Fahey to Japan indiegogo
Wait, what?! I'm not sure I've read any fantasy book that didn't have a map. Strange!
Welcome to America!
Maybe I’m not understanding how much the “no remake yet” angle matters here, but the list is missing such important movies. Mother, Burning, Bin Jip, New World, Lady Vengeance, Sympathy for Mr Vengeance all immediately come to mind.
Lots of games that give you freedom can have this problem where the story feels completely disconnected from the gameplay and your own narrative. Even back in GTA San Andreas I was really annoyed by the disconnect between me flying around in a Harrier jet or shooting my way through the city in a tank. Oh you also own…
Heavenly Bodies looks like it could be really fun, but all comes down to how well the controls were implemented. Curious to read some reviews.
Or just auction off scarce products. At least this way the extra margin goes to the manufacturer and the customer doesn’t have to but from shady eBay vendors.
This to some degree comes down to how we view price gauging. At least potential solution evaluation depends on that. Great discussion of the topic: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/rationally-speaking-podcast/id351953012?i=1000532443572
Scalpers only exist because the price of the product doesn't match demand. The real solution of course is to auction them all off online still the price stabilized. Basic economics.
