I can buy the weirdness. What I struggle with are the internal inconsistencies. Especially the episode where the religious zealots try to trap mother. Somehow a new, more impressive looking but ultimately much less lethal attack gets introduced. This allows the zealots to somehow on foot make it to camp much faster

I’ve been playing games since the 80s, but have never bought a console at launch. I considered it with the PS4, but then didn’t till later. I was dead set on buying a PS5 on launch, just because I’ve never bought a console on launch and want to get that off the list. I am an adult with adult income, so hell yeah.

The original tweet doesn’t mention FPS either. However, in the top-right of the screenshot you can see that it’s 75. That’s very disappointing to me. I’d expect a much higher frame rate. They call out that it loads “very fast”. I would have expected “instantaneously.

My guess is that the problem is that the game still

Ghost of Tsushima has been really nice, but it’s dragging on too long and I’m not liking how the gameplay changes as the game progresses. So I stopped waiting to play The Last of Us II when we get the inevitable PS5 release and am playing it now instead. Really liking the story and wandering through Seattle,

You are responding to a comment from 2015...

And there is still a ton of games that don’t have that stuff. Like Demon Souls and pretty much any other Sony 1st party game.

Also games used to be made by a handful of people. Now it’s often hundreds and includes a full orchestra score.

You are totally right. However, while Germany is a federal system, criminal law is the same across the tiny states/länder

Everything you are saying about European countries seems to be contradicted by Wikipedia and my own experience growing up in Germany. France’s age of consent is 15. Germany's is 14. However, that's almost irrelevant because the laws there have a lot more nuance than the blunt US laws that everyone has in their head.

The US has a overly simplistic legal approach to age of consent. This leads to people’s life being ruined by ending on sex offender lists for very minor things. Extreme example. You can have a couple where both partners are 17 and they are having sex. All fine. Now if one of them turns 18 it’s illegal. The older

For about a second I was really excited. Then I realized that I misread and this wasn't about Outer Wilds, but just Outer Worlds.

Sure tv set makers could do that. My point was the opposite: Games don’t run out of the box on every console. It takes extra work to use right right SDK or at least optimize for the different Hardware.

Here is another crucial factor: The tv manufacturer makes their profit from your purchase of the tv set. Console

Seems like nobody in the comments understands the economics of console vendors. Historically console vendors have lost money on the sale of the actual console. They make that money back by charging publishers fees for every game they sell on the console. That’s how the bulk of the money gets made by the console

Your metaphor is faulty, since every tv set can play every tv show. TV shows don’t need to be modified for every different model of tv.

They also make either no money or very little money of the hardware. The money comes from fees charged to publishers who release games on the platform. Compare this to how Epic is

They don’t only make money on selling their own games, they make money from every game sold for their console. It’s comparable to Apple and the AppStore. The main purpose of exclusives is to drive consumers to their console where Sony can then charge developers to get access to those consumers. Typically console

Sony gets a fee for every game from any company sold on PS4. So it’s important to them that the console sells well and is the platform of choice for many users. Sure Sony makes money on exclusives directly, but the main purpose of those exclusives is to move people to PS where Sony then charges other producers a fee

I’m not saying that it shouldn’t be free. I’m explicitly responding to the “not lift a single finger” statement which is obviously false and deminishes the work

“not lift a single finger” is likely a overstatement. There has to be QA, there might be controller changes, some running might happen to adjust everything to optimally take advantage of the different hardware. The later might just be adjusting settings that are readily available on PC, but it still needs to happen

I didn't even know about that TeNapel dude. I always associated Earthworm Jim with David Perry who is responsible for the actual game. Is he involved at all? He seems to mostly hand moved towards the business side of the industry.

What Gameboy games though?

The article explicitly said that it's not confirmed that the luck mechanic was reintroduced.
