I dunno, I played Dungeon before Zork was a thing, and I don’t think it was all that much more complex, just it required more abstracting away since it was all text based or something?

Huh, we had very different experiences. I can’t think of a single puzzle in it that I used trial and error on for more than about 30 seconds, they were all based on understanding how the devices worked.
There’s nothing about order of the books. The point is that both brothers are untrustworthy, and you shouldn’t put

When I first played through, I had absolutely no problem with that puzzle and did it almost instantly. I tried again a few years ago, got to that puzzle and could not fucking do it. It was just physically impossible for me to hear the tonal differences or whatever it was. So I gave up.

It's so weird to me that Myst elicits such strong reactions either way. Playing it for the first (and only) time was honestly something close to a transcendental experience for me, and remains one of the most powerful memories from my life (although I'd be hard-pressed to tell you much about any of the puzzles, or

And my axe!

Myst blew my fucking mind. That is all.

Heh, and as it turns out it was multiple times, over many years. Just reread that piece, Morrison definitely comes off as the better man in this particular situation.
That being said, I still like Moore more (heh), and would probably rather have a beer with him, crustiness and arrogance aside.

Fuck me… "At the same time, several White men drove by, honking and yelling profanities at the crowd."

See Morrison’s side of it here.

Well you’re kind of right about that, except Moore’s brief interview was one in which he publicly disowned Morrison, and said that if anyone ever asked him any questions about Morrison again he would refuse to be interviewed by said person. Forever. And called him various names like “a Scottish cover band”, which,

Uh… that's not really true, no. Not that I care that much, but Moore did not come off very well from their last public exchange.

There’s a story my prof once told me, which is probably false, about how Hannah Arendt was asked, years later, about Heidegger’s character, to which she responded “What character?”. Anyways, he was a horrible person. Fuck Nazis.

I think it’s a very positive review? He seems to definitely like the film a lot, although perhaps not as much as you.

"My high school was also, for the record, the one that had those girls line up to spell the n-word with their t-shirts after the senior class photo earlier this year."

Also, if you don’t play it within the next 24 hours, I will drown this bag of puppies.
To be fair, I’m probably going to drown them anyways, but, you know, this way there’s hope at least.

Gameological
videogames

Sure, but I don’t really see that as a negative, necessarily. Not everyone has to be innovators, they just need to make good games. (I have no idea if Overwatch is one, but it seems fun.)

I'm back in Invisible, Inc. land, still trying to get an Experienced playthrough to work. My last run actually felt close, I got to the stage with the two teleporters where Monst3r becomes a playable character, and I had managed to rescue another agent, so was feeling pretty good about myself. But everything just went

Oh, I just realized I have Hong Kong and haven't played it yet. Might get on that.

Their niche is, and has really always been, taking ideas that other studios have done well, and doing them really well. That's it. That's basically the entire secret of their success. They're not innovators in terms of gameplay, their stories are dumber than a bag of hammers, but just about everything I've ever played
