This is a bit of generalization, but many executives get their compensation primarily determined by a board of owners. It’s fairly common for current/ex/future executives to move in & out of those board positions. Therefore, it is in the best interest of said ownership group to pay the executives as much as possible

People often get annoyed with me when I point out that a household income in the low $100k range puts them in the top 20% of our area. By ~$120k it doubles the median household income, but remains less than half to even get into the top 5%. Income disparity graphs are depressing.

Crimes committed using fake or imitation guns are on the rise and using it in lieu of a real gun can carry similar consequences as if the perpetrator had brandished a real gun

The insurance lobby is one the few with enough cash to fight the auto lobby and keep them from messing with this too. People will keep buying cars, regardless, so Hyundai/Kia probably won’t even have any widescale manufacturer/dealer industry backing and will be stuck fighting all of this on their own. I kinda hope

This is why I have been happy to live outside the social media ecosystem for over a decade now. Every so often I get curious what might be going on with it and then I see one of these articles and feel good about my choices.

Cost is the biggest thing. I have a house of 6, the wife and I often give rides to our kids friends, and my wife still wants 1 more kid. That means we need a minivan/full size SUV and the R1S/Model X are the only ones even available and those cost more than our entire driveway combined (not even counting a home

And is this script actually written or will the ongoing writers strike delay it?

I could see a lot of opinions on this depending on how much of a police state someone is comfortable with. The concept of something being in ‘plain sight’ or ‘public view’ was very different just 30 years ago versus how easy it is for the government to use modern tech to see & do a lot without a warrant. I won’t be

They are becoming more popular as rear emergency breaking. Most new cars already offer it on their mid to upper level trims. That sensing includes cross traffic alerts, so it will catch objects behind you as you back out of a parking space.

The weather and geography will be a much bigger shock than the culture. Like every other blue state, outside of the major metros they are just as conservative as Alabama. Boebert has managed to get elected there twice

It’s so you can use the full 1000 HP for all 381 miles. Nothing but full speed racing for this car.

Looks like this could be a boon to autonomous driving companies. While AEB is extremely low skill on the autonomous front, this could be seen as a start of the NHTSA requiring more autonomous capabilities. Will lane keep assist or adaptive cruise be next? Will the future unknown of BAC testing laws require that a car

“If the Journalism Preservation Act passes, we will be forced to remove news from Facebook and Instagram rather than pay into a slush fund that primarily benefits big, out-of-state companies under the guise of aiding California publishers,” the company said in a statement.

The best would be Trump and all his minions running independent to split the GOP tickets

The link to it is in the article. Giz posted it this past Friday and it even says those terminations are effective June 1. This chatbot literally failed before they could even finish firing the staff it was supposed to replace.

I’m curious if Twitter will ever get a quick death or if it’s just going to be a long, multiyear decline that bombards our newsfeeds until there is an unprecedented event that finally gets it cut off (kinda Trump & 1/6).

Instead of timeline I probably should have just stuck to the original question of what design unexpectedly held up. I definitely did not think the 300 would remain a good design almost 20 years after they introduced it.

Is the Chrysler 300 old enough to be considered timeless now? It can officially vote this year, but is still a few years from legal drinking age, so maybe that’s more of a prediction.

Don’t forget Batgirl getting the axe, despite already spending a ton of money on it.
