I was going to post the same thing.

"More and more evidence is suggesting that the real danger of obesity has nothing to do with fat, and everything to do with the stigma of being fat."

More and more evidence is suggesting that the real danger of obesity has nothing to do with fat, and everything to do with the stigma of being fat.

Thank you. I'm reluctant to say this because of how upset some people — by which I mean Americans, who never want anyone involved in their business — get whenever weight is brought up, but not all discussion of weight is "fat shaming".

It would appear people truly believe this woman is less healthy at 105 pounds than at 260 pounds.

"the real danger of obesity has nothing to do with fat" — Really? NOTHING? Sorry, you lost all credibility there.

OK, I'll bite.

Jezebel, you're really starting to sound like that jealous girl. You feign concern and your ability to see all sides of a situation, but really you are just belittling a woman who worked really hard to accomplish what she did. You're also probably accomplishing the exact opposite of what you claim you're trying to

As far as I know, it's a strictly volunteer show. They don't kidnap people that have a few pounds to lose. These people are at the end of their rope and see this as hope to get healthy.

typical jez shit.

Do you think Jezebel needs to stop posting about this goddamn story?

More and more evidence is suggesting that the real danger of obesity has nothing to do with fat, and everything to do with the stigma of being fat.

idk. plenty of past contestants from Biggest Loser enjoyed their experience + have kept the weight off

You use the word "gaunt" to describe her, in an article decrying shaming people for their size? Nice work, lady.

As is typical of the rhetoric around fat, weight, and women's bodies, Rachel was deemed "too thin" and "not healthy" by viewers and the media.

... so we're going to body shame her because she's too thin. Brilliant.

Yes, why can't she be in the acceptable skinny or acceptable fat ranges? How dare she shoot for a weight goal that's perfectly fine for her height and also what most fashion caters to? The NERVE.

I wish that everyone would stop with this. 5'4" and 105lbs isn't out of line. Was it a crazy amount of weight to lose? Yeah, and the whole premise of the show is terrible, but let's leave this woman alone. Damn.

Former Fatty should have stopped at 130lb or so. Then she'd be "acceptable" so she wouldn't gross people out, but wouldn't be "anorexic", making other people jealous.
