Except that the norm these days is a two parent income. And does that mean that two working parents shouldn’t have children? How is that the right outcome?

point taken.
He did seem to get offended when I said it was too bad his parents didn’t have an abortion though. So I am not entirely sure he is just trolling.
Seems to be a lot of crossed wires on this post today! :)
Great. Live your dream.
And sometimes life happens and things happen that you can’t plan for too.
Oh, did you develop feelings?
Hopefully you never have kids because I’m sure they’ll be little assholes, just like you. And I feel sorry for your “wife”.
I wish your parents had one.
We ALL pay in to that.
How are other people paying for the parents’ choices? By the company they work for keeping their job open for them? There are plenty of temp agencies that they would actually be saving money on temporarily if that was needed. Also, if the company values the person’s service (whatever that might be) they should be more…
In which case, wouldn’t that incentive possibly be maternity leave?
My apologies. You are agreeing with someone that is clearly trolling so I took it out on you. You are making your point, I can understand that.
I think you are replying to the wrong person.
It is all relative then, isn’t it? Because the majority of people that have children cannot afford to have one parent not working. You were lucky to have been able to do that. Most people cannot. Which essentially means that our population would significantly decrease (which, given the state of some of the comments on…
Everyone that works is paying in to the system. So, technically, we are all paying for our own leave. Much like unemployment: everyone pays in to it, so if you have to collect it, it is your money that you are taking back.
I get that, but it seems as though these parents did have their child knowing that they would have to put it in daycare.
No one is asking for anyone to give them money. That is just ignorance.
I didn’t say paid or unpaid. And I am not “complaining”, just saying it is a shame that a parent should have to leave their job for wanting to take more maternity leave (whether it is paid or not).
Maybe, maybe not. It depends on how the child dies, I suppose.
