Niantic should really adopt user research and usability testing. This just seems like edicts handed down from on-high with the expectation that it will somehow improve gameplay.

Also why designer pay and demand is skyrocketing. Those of us who know what we’re doing know how to utilize research, usability testing, and hypothesis experiments to tease out the user’s actual needs and how to meet them while creating business outcomes.

One of the biggest responsibilities as a designer is understanding that the user doesn’t always know what they need or want. Doing exactly what the user tells you doesn’t lead to a good product. However listening to, researching, and observing a user can surface insights the end user wasn’t even aware of.

Everyone on this list deserves contempt...except for the end user. Everyone else failed at their job somehow.

Agreed. I think contempt is definitely the wrong word, lol

As a product designer I’d love to hear of a situation where an end user deserves contempt because I've never seen one. No matter how frustrated I may be I'm designing for the end user, they owe me nothing and are under no obligation to use the product as I think they should.
