would it be bad to have sex with him just to have an abortion to spite him? i mean i know that’s a legitimately terrible thing to do, but this is paul ryan.

I dislike the way alcohol tastes but sometimes drink it anyway because, sadly enough, of peer pressure. And I'm 28. Sometimes it's just not worth it to put up with all the questions from people I'm with.
I especially loved to hate Emily Yoffe-as-Prudence’s frequent recommendations that any time a friend or family member is acting outside the norm, you should “get them to a doctor for a full workup.” It often seemed completely unfathomable to her that having unusual tastes, preferences, or behaviors could ever be health…
Her attitude appears to be “there is no such thing as rape when alcohol is involved”, yet somehow also, “the choice of women and girls to drink alcohol causes rape.”
I think it’s less that she wants women to never drink or leave their homes as that she wants to make sure men can rape with impunity. She has made clear again and again that she strongly dislikes women, particularly women who are victims of sexual assault, and she considers it a travesty that it’s even possible…
I’m pretty sure that her parents were alcoholics or she has alcoholism in her family. When you have a hammer every problem looks like a nail.
You’re right, it's more like she has a low opinion of anyone who doesn't live life they way she does. It really does feel like she's looking down her nose at everyone else. And now she's going to be at the Atlantic? Sad.
It’s not just women. For example, she seemed to consider anyone who drank more than she did (occasional single glass of wine-type) a raging alcoholic.
The fact that Mallory Ortburg is Prudie is the only reason I’m willing to set foot on Slate again. Emily Yoffee is a horrible person, and she dragged down the quality of the site.
I didn’t see The Hunting Ground so I can have no opinion on this.
Emily Yoffe as in “Dear Prudence”? That woman should not be allowed to write. Her advice is based only how many puns she can stick into her lame answer. Sometimes her advice is actually dangerous.
Emily Yoffe's obvious bias is why I stopped reading Slate. She has such a low opinion of women, well, women who aren't just like her. Thanks for highlighting the actual cases she attacked in such detail.
I hear ya. My boobs never got smaller after having BabyStu, but now they’re saggy. I’m having one more bambino, then my reward is getting those funbags reduced and lifted. MrStu is against plastic surgery but I wouldn’t negotiate. I told him that sometime before I’m forty, I’m wearing a strapless dress with perky…
And with the boy babies you are way more likely to get your face pissed on. This is just poor decision making.
FWIW, there is reason to believe that the notoriety of former mass murderers can inspire future ones. This case seems to be different, but in the manifesto of your average white man choking on his impotant rage he’ll mention sandy hook or UVA or whatever. Focusing on the victims and their life and loved ones refuses…
I’ve been using the diva cup for nearly three years now and I love it, but I won’t change it in a public bathroom anymore— unless it’s a single stall thing.
I think it’s Mark Twain who said, “To succeed in life, you need two things: ignorance and confidence”.
I sometimes daydream what it would be like to have that kind of ego, be so sure, so rock solid, in your own rightness. It really must be a lovely feeling.
but maybe then they can go live in a nice retirement home together
I hang out in the living room when I’m having insomnia and then totally crawl into bed at the crack of dawn for a snuggle!
