EMPEROR OF MONGO

I would think ‘supercharger’ is a translation error from ‘compressor’ meaning turbocharger. Do not forget that early turbos were even referred to as superchargers in english.

I remember seeing this when I was about 9 on Terminus, the Saturday afternoon science fiction show on the Tampa NBC affiliate. This was about 1971. It was the first part of a double feature with Atragon, a Japanese bit of fluff. That was one of the best days of my life.

This film has suffered a lot of abuse, largely (and rightly) due to its tendentious religious themes and some godawful science. But there is a lot of commendable stuff that is too often overlooked. For instance, it’s one of the first space films to try to give a real sense of scale to the spacecraft. These things look

Something interesting about this film. They used the props and clips from the movie to do a pilot for a tv series around 1959 to be called “Destination Space”with Edward Platt as one of the actors in it.

Sleek robot? Where? I’ve watched this movie numerous times and I have it my VUDU collection, I don’t recall any robot. I like it mostly for the Chesley Bonestell art and the Von Braun spacecraft. Interesting the things they got right about Mars. Notice the lack of canals that everyone at that time thought existed.

The Dodge Charger from Bullitt losing, what, six hubcaps during the chase? Or the part where the Mustang lands so hard from a jump the oil pan shatters? Or the fact that the same VW bug is seen over and over again? (It HAD to be the fastest car to keep getting ahead of them all the time!) I love the movie, and the

It’s not supposed to be grabbed by the passenger. It’s for the doorman.

Sunny can’t read and there is no internet

Couldn’t they improve profits by installing seats that can be sold or used for some other purpose?

How do you prove something can’t be proven?

Dear Most Gracious Sir,

Most high exulted Mongo, I wasn’t sure! No offence taken and hopefully none given.

I see someone reads Roger Zelazny.

Ok, I can get that. Just saw “Emperor of Mongo” all in a row and all fairly negative, so consider the “troll” line retracted as well.

I didn’t really pay much attention to the “no guns” bit, to be honest, though now that it seems to be a subject of discussion now, it will be interesting to see where the show goes with

I cheated and used a calculator. I've never heard of such a thing and thought it was a typo expressing 2 hands with 10 fingers not a literal 2^10. I'll have to do some research into this that's a pretty cool technique for dealing with larger numbers.
