Exactly this. Sometimes I think Sony overthinks this stuff and makes it more complicated for themselves than it has to be. But yeah, I’m sure it might affect some people more than me and it’d be a nice feature to have, it’s just not gonna be a big deal for me either way. If I’m halfway through a single player game

My first console was a used NES I bought from a friend several years after release. I had a Sega Genesis next (it’s still in my mom’s attic), but didn’t get that anywhere near launch. After that I didn’t own a console until I picked up a PS3 midway through that generation. I’m pretty sure I got my PS4 near launch, if

This is the exact kind of math I’ve been doing in my head recently, but I am still not quite ready to pull the trigger as I still hear about people having to fiddle with settings for hours to get something to run properly and stuff like that. Everything you said makes perfect sense, though, and I’ll probably cave

My backlog thanks you for this contribution...

Still working on The Outer Wilds, so I’m hoping to get at least one decent block of time for that this weekend. Playing in short chunks works okay, but I find I forget what I was trying to do or how to navigate to a tricky location if I don’t play for a couple of days.

Did I spot a brief glimpse of Leavenworth in that trailer?

EDIT: I just found a few articles promising that the upgrade will be free.

Exactly. There is no release date for this upgraded version yet.

The next-gen version of the game is not coming out until later, though...

I don’t think it’s the community they’re worried about, it’s shareholders. Development time = spending money. Releasing game = making money. If they push that revenue into the next quarter or something, shareholders will be unhappy and stock prices might dip. This is a case of favoring investors over employees, which:

I’m away this weekend and while I have my Switch with me, I doubt I will find much time to play anything. I have plenty of untouched games on there, but I think I’d like to try to make some progress in Baba is You if I get a chance. Got stuck on a level pretty early on and just never went back to it.

Yes, I’ve been checking it regularly. The “there’s more to explore here” notation is helpful, but still pretty vague...

It me.

I’ve never heard this music or played one of these games, BUT I have been playing The Outer Wilds and so far it’s... fine? I dunno, everything is very vague and there is barely any guidance as to what I’m supposed to be doing or how to do it. I die a lot - often alone in the cold vacuum of space after falling through

In case you hadn’t noticed, I very much enjoy these Skyrim updates. So thanks!

Fair, non-competes are also rarely enforceable against employees” here (British Columbia - and all of Canada, I believe). I don’t know exactly what his position was when he left, but C-suite executives are not usually “employees” and so are fair game for non-compete agreements. Again, I’m mostly just guessing and the

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that he left in 2018 and this announcement comes now. I’m purely speculating (I’m a lawyer who deals with this stuff regularly, though, so it’s educated speculation), but two years is a very common duration for a non-competition clause. So I’d guess you’re probably right and there

Yeah, it really does seem to be coming in hot, doesn’t it?

This is kinda where I’ve landed on this, too. Though I am still half-expecting some timed-exclusive BS on the occasional release: The annoyance (to consumers) of exclusivity without any significant loss of revenue will be too tempting to entirely pass up...

100% team couch. I probably haven’t played desktop game since my undergrad, which is many years ago now. Even if I were to buy a gaming PC, I would most likely hook it up to my TV and play pretty much everything with a controller.
