Things are mostly going well. Work is busy, which is good because money, but I’m still not particularly interested in solving other people’s problems lately, and dealing with institutions (courts, banks, etc.) fucking sucks right now. I’ll send a letter requesting something and might just never hear back from them,

It should be a crime, frankly...

Opening the schools is going to be a disaster. I feel for anyone with kids that are affected by this. Young kids just cannot and will not reliably behave in a safe manner and most older kids think they’re indestructible and don’t care. This is gonna be bad.

That’s a hot tip. I’ll have to keep it in mind next time. Timing grabs has definitely been giving me problems.

I still have an untouched box of Warhammer 40k space marines from the mid to late 90s somewhere in my mother’s attic and I often think about pulling them out. There was something very pleasing about cutting the pieces from the molds and prepping them, then posing them just how you wanted them before the painting

I guess it’s back to TLOU2 for me this weekend, if I manage to find any time for it. I have been away for a couple weeks and put it down right before the start of a boss fight toward the end of the game before I left, so that should be a fun way to get back into it. This game has taken me almost two months so far...

I can’t help but laugh at the spoof on Apple’s “1984" ad. Of all the “1984-ish” things happening in 2020, the App Store is really at the very bottom of my list of concerns when we are confronted with things like oh, I don’t know — say, the rise of actual fascism in the United States...

Yeah, that was exactly my point. It sounds like more to the world than just it’s AC-like open world map, which is what I’m hoping for. I can probably handle the AC aspects if there is something more there in the world.

I’m in Vancouver, and we are definitely having a similar summer. It took forever to actually get warm this year and now it’s already cooled off again. August is supposed to be hot for the whole month! I want to speak to the manager...

I’m back at work after almost two weeks off and you know what? Vacation is WAY better than work! Who knew?!?

I’m glad to hear that it’s not just an AC-alike. I am really not a fan of that style of open world, which is why I haven’t picked GoT up yet despite being very into the samurai/setting aspects of it. But it sounds like the world is fleshed-out enough to overcome that, and holy moly is it ever gorgeous. I might hold

It’s a legitimate concern. We have a 90 degree corner at the bottom and at the top of our stairs, which means even though the stairway is fairly wide, it’s gonna be tricky to maneuver a heavy pull-out couch. I don’t blame them for wanting another dude to help. My walls also thank them.

Me and my GF moved into a 2BR townhouse last November, which turned out to be a critical decision since she’s been on WFH for months (and will be for the foreseeable future) so the spare bedroom/office has been a godsend. We still have some stuff to sort out, but it’s come together pretty well so far.

Books and records are two of the big exceptions that I make, too. I feel like the books I’ve read have sort of informed who I am as a person over the years, so it’s tough to imagine getting rid of them. And I do re-read stuff occasionally, which allows me to justify keeping them.

It should be fun. Everyone is pretty chill and I won’t personally have to care for children or dogs. Plus me and my GF have another three days by ourselves in the same area after everyone else leaves on Monday, so I will get a few days of vacation from the vacation anyway.

It’s a client’s money. I just have to get it out to another law firm to close a deal and then I’m free!!

I’m at work when I’m supposed to be on vacation, which sucks! A bank fucked up and didn’t get their money to me yesterday, so now I have to deal with it this morning. It shouldn’t take too long and mostly just involves writing some cheques and making a run to a different bank, but it’s like $6M of someone else’s money

As an outside observer, I’m terrified for America’s future. This descent into authoritarianism is scary and I have serious concerns about the country’s ability to hold free & fair elections in November, not to mention the question of whether the current administration will leave office if Trump loses. And I don’t

I’m still not done my playthrough (in Abby’s day 2 rn), but you captured my initial feelings pretty well. Having finally made it to what seemed like the climax of the game, it was annoying to be suddenly and unavoidably diverted, and then seeing her upgrade tree was deflating. There’s no way I’m gonna have the energy

I think you’re half right: I believe that he was born an undead bog lich.
