Haha. I thought about doing the conversion, but I am very lazy.

I barely used the bottle/brick to the face thing in the first game and always felt I was missing out on something important. Now I am really seeing it, as there seem to be more enemies who come at you faster, so if you don’t use that little advantage you can gain by stunning someone, you. are. screwed.

I relate to the “unable to play TLOU2 in daylight” thing very strongly. But I’m finding that I really suck at this game, even playing on an easier difficulty. I recall sucking at the original for quite a while before something clicked and I became much better at it, but I don’t feel like anything is clicking here yet.

I would like to make some significant progress in TLOU2, but I’m not sure I’m going to have a lot of time this weekend. Have a 230km bike ride planned for tomorrow which is gonna take basically all day, then maybe a small get-together for a friend’s bday Saturday night (at which I will no doubt drink two glasses of

I saw a vague reference to this on twitter this morning, but just went and read an article on it and, holy shit. That is brutal. The FGC in general has always seemed like cool place where this kind of stuff would never happen, but I guess predators are everywhere. Glad to see them being rooted out, at least. People

Elevators are stressful these days. I know that if everyone is wearing masks (not a given) it should be fairly safe, but I still don’t like the idea of being in such a confined space with a bunch of other people. If it was me, I’d get there early and just wait for an empty elevator or one with only one other

Damn, this reminds me that I need to re-book a dentist appointment. As a nice further reminder, one of my wisdom teeth has been giving me trouble the past couple of days. I need to get them removed, but I can think of much more fun ways to spend a couple thousand dollars...

I came across that twitter thread this morning and it is totally worth reading in its entirety if you haven’t already. A deep dive on an aspect of game design that I rarely even think about. Very cool.

Happy Canada Day!!

I find Eve Online fascinating and some of the stuff the community does is great. Never gonna go anywhere near it, though. That video was a tearjerker.

My personal taxes were done ages ago, but I’m still waiting on some info before I can do my corporate return. The Canadian filing deadline for my corporate isn’t until like September, so I’ve got lots of time.

The San Juan Islands are freaking gorgeous. I’ve been through and done some camping in that area a couple of times, but it’s been ages. And you’re totally right: if you only get a little rain, you’ve done well. Hopefully we don’t have to keep the border closed forever and I can get back down there someday...

Happy birthday! Hope you and your family have fun!

Man, I know how good it feels to get some of those student loans paid off, so well done. I paid off my government loan last July (there is still a much larger bank loan that I’m paying) and it felt great.

I’m having this exact problem. I feel like a ghoul closing the blinds on a gorgeous sunny day to play this game, but it’s impossible to see anything with them open.

I accompanied a friend on a 200km bike ride on Saturday that he was doing as a cancer fundraiser (COVID is getting all the headlines lately, but cancer still sucks!!!). There were quite a few of us, although we split up into smaller groups for most of the ride. I still wasn’t totally comfortable with the numbers and

TLOU2 mostly. Didn’t really get any time to play this week, so still very early on. Curious to see where it goes, based on all the vague foreshadowing from critics and other folks who have finished it.

Dammit, I don’t really want to be excited about this game, but it’s becoming more interesting as I hear more about it. I have to say that I’m also pretty happy about the recent delay, since it makes getting it on next-gen a no-brainer.

Iceberg is definitely the worst lettuce, right? It’s just water. Romaine and butter lettuce both have at least a bit of flavor to them.

Kale is garbage. Lettuce isn’t exciting, but at least it’s not actively gross. I talked to my mom yesterday and she’s been growing kale in her garden and now has way too much of it. She wanted to give me some and I turned it down.
