Oh, it’s unfair to scrutinize Melanie’s parents but it was totally fine for her asshole husband and his cronies to bring up Obama’s parentage at every (inappropriate) opportunity.

See, that's my thing too. The money he had, he had at least one person working with his money—you know he wasn't doing taxes via turbo tax—so how could this possibly happen without his active participation and consent? It's so baffling to me.

You can make a will without engaging in the kind of complicated estate planning that’s used to avoid taxes, so that wouldn’t be the reason. I also suspect he’s more likely to have at least thought of it than the average person, since he had managers and lawyers who should have mentioned it.

This, of all things, strikes me as not being a horrible outcome. At least his taxes will go to benefit (well, some portion of them, hopefully) the area where he grew up and spent his entire adult life and was by most estimates a very involved community member.

Half of all multimillion/billion dollar estates should go to the tax man. What’s the problem?

Weird how a guy who insisted on such a huge degree of control over his music during his lifetime didn’t make a will.
