Yeah, I’ve realized that over the years. She’s gotten better about it. The older she gets the less anxious she gets (or, she handles that anxiety better). You’re right though, about redirecting. I used to try to push her out completely and that just made it worse. The specific example I used was from a couple years

That's fine, but he's 22 and about to graduate college and he should get his shit together. He doesn't even have to care about the subject, just write a good enough paper to pass. We've all been there and we all managed to get through it.

If all you cared about was fun and parties, what the hell were you doing in school? You can do that elsewhere. Also, at 22 you’re a goddamned adult and you shouldn’t have your parents fix your very small problems like this one. I wouldn't do this for any college student offspring of mine.

Hippos, the humanitarians of our age!

A friend told me that on her bucket list was going to africa in the piece corps or something like that. She then said that she would invite me and we could go on safari. I promptly told her no and showed her the video of the lion opening the car door. Hippos are example #2. they are assholes and will try and kill you.

That is why I have televised wildlife documentaries.

Yep. That’s generally what we say when people stupidly die via wild animal in Montana. They were diluting the gene pool anyway.

From one of Spouse’s field trips to a farm in WV:

Yeah good call. It's way worse than All About That Bass. If I could erase it from my brain I would.

For her next trick she will travel to the Nile and pet a hippo bull.

It’s not breeding season and we’re well into spring. She’s not presenting herself as an immediate threat. He is more than likely just ignoring her. Large herbivores are pretty good judges of what they can take out. Plus I have to assume this isn't the first human he's encountered. So while she deserves a good

Shoot, I had a coyote cruising around my garage this morning (and I had my dog with me) and I noped out of there so fast. Extra nope on the jumbo sized salad eaters.

So many people are so goddamned stupid when it comes to animals. When I was in Yellowstone we happened to see a big bull elk standing by the side of the road as we were driving and we turned around to get a better look. By the time we got back the road was completely lined with cars, and it seemed like everybody was

I would sooner pet a wild bison than buy anything by Meghan Trainor, I’ll tell you that right now...

That bison is easily over 200 pounds. She couldn’t even carry it back to her wagon. SMH.

“ ... 22 year old man”

Most colleges these days require students to take some kind of class that touches on diversity issues, whether that means race, gender, disability, or something else. Usually, multiple classes fulfill the requirement. If you don’t bother to do anything about the requirement until spring of your senior year, you might

Honest question...is gender studies becoming a requirement for graduating these days? The courses existed 20 years ago when I was in school but never a requirement or even really offered as a gen ed class. Just related to a gender studies minor.

I was just shocked that this kid was at UCLA and not USC, but I suppose that if they live in Bel Air they might not want him to run the chance of encountering any Negroes outside of campus.
