Well, actually, Nigel, I think you missed a great opportunity to clarify things for Anna with phenomenal explanation. If women want to be heard more in the workplace, they need to be more assertive. That means they’ve got to reiterate each other’s ideas and credit each other. This will increase their visibility and

Wow, Anna Merlan, what a great suggestion! Hey everyone! Anna Merlan just suggested we should listen to what Stassa said! Way to go, Anna Merlan!

As a man, I have a great idea.
If women would like to be heard more in the workplace, when one woman makes a point, the other women in the room should reiterate the idea and credit the initial speaker.

A GREAT POINT MADE BY MY COLLEAGUE STASSA and furthermore LET’S ALL LISTEN TO WHAT STASSA JUST SAID

How am I supposed to fight back a polar bear?!?!?

Internalized misogyny. I did this too before I realized that I would also be treated like shit no matter how “different" I thought I was from other women. And that criticism of women is skewed.

Farthest. Why do you ask?

Because those victims were not trying to harm or scam the theatre. They legitimately believed that the theatre could have done more to prevent the attack. I don’t believe the theatre is liable, but I do believe they could make a minor change to make a future attack like this harder to pull off.

I don’t know if I’m supposed to say “poor Ivanka” or “poor Tiffany” to this. Who do you pity more? The daughter he forgets exists or the one who is the subject of his gross fixation?

Corporations are people! :D

I bet your kids will be thrilled to hear that losing one of them would be about as painful as stubbing a toe.

When presidential candidate and sentient hemorrhoid dripping with an odd concoction of santorum and Cheeto dust Donald Trump is president, we won’t have to worry about pesky women’s equality in the White House because there won’t be any women there in the first place.

I hate this company with the heat of a thousand suns. I’d also agree their security was shit (the guy was able to exit the theater, prop open the door and return with no one noticing), but putting that aside, the lack of moral compass that allowed them to announce they were suing the innocent victims who got hurt in

My understanding is that the shooter was able to go out the unsecured emergency exit and return with a weapon without setting off an alarm. If that’s true I would never call this a frivolous suit, it sounds reasonable to think a jury might hold the theater at least partially responsible.

Eh. As another commenter pointed out, it's in poor taste. Basic business sense - losing a family member has real financial consequences. I think all sides acted poorly here, but when a family member gets shot at your establishment, don't expect them to be all cheery joy joy. Shit happens. If this were a mom and pop

I really like the Cinemark in Portsmouth (NH), I was a frequent patron and I just hope they get the message from folks like me that they have to do better. It's basic business sense, don't countersue victims.

It really was. It was also really a dumb business move. I know corporations are usually removed from working class people's experiences - but theirs was an especially amateur move. Setting up a charity would have been a good idea. Losing family isn't just tragic, it has real financial consequences too.

Pffft. Oh, poor CEO of Cinemark. At $900,000 salary, he’s the real victim here. Owns a business but doesn’t think his fortunes should ever be used to mitigate damages to families, people whose hard-earned dollars actually went towards his fame and fortune.

I've got nothing to complain about, my family is fine. None of them were murdered. I don't know if Cinemark offered any mitigating payment for the people who had families murdered inside their establishment but if not maybe they should think about some lessons on basic morals.

It’s just my opinion that Cinemark needs to behave better. Their CEO earns what, annually? About $900,000 from what I understand. Think about that. How does that compare with the average American who visits their theater? When you own a business, if there's a mass shooting that takes place in your establishment, this
