Higher education IS a right though. More to the point, we as citizens including his victim have a right to see that this young man be educated - surrounded by good peer influences, teachers who will hold him accountable, campus law enforcement and smart woman who may be able to shift his attitude. Football, no. Higher

You’re asking people, including his victim, to have a crystal ball. Many rapists are young men with poor impulse control, and not mentally ill. To assume that playing a violent sport famous for harboring male criminals is going to improve this man’s character is pretty mindless.

I bet she’ll have a great time riding waves of depression and anger in her room while rapey boy gets high fives and media glory being on a football team.

If you’re saying only private clubs, like the few “smoking clubs” in Massachusetts, absolutely I agree. I wasn’t sure if that what you meant.

A smoking ban for most all public establishments and even some outdoor spaces has been in effect in Massachusetts since 2004. Smoke enters the lungs. How would a pot ban be any different?

I would totally up the enforcement of removing drunks from public spaces. They are raging assholes.

I agree with you on your last point, but I more meant to say that legalizing pot in public spaces will be a nightmare because people with no manners are complete fuckwits when they are high (or hung over from the night before).

Smoking is legal but it is certainly not a right. Anything that enters people’s lungs is dangerous and Massachusetts is right to have strict rules about secondhand smoke. Except for people using it by prescription, everyone has choice to NOT smoke where it bothers people. It’s basic manners.

My husband and I met a woman who has a wife. Although we live in Massachusetts (she lives in another part of New England) we never before had the chance to meet and chat with a married lesbian partner. We knew her for some time, at her workplace, before we knew she had a wife. She is one of the most confident,

So, what happens when women buck the status quo by refusing to offer up a hug?

That would be fine, if people would stick to the plan and have a few unbendable rules for their own behavior. Like, I dunno, I won’t force anyone to smell like my pot and I won’t risk killing people by driving while stoned?

Absolutely. You’re in Seattle, so you get it. Dogs allowed in cafes and licking my frigging purse, dudes smoking pot in my face will only steel my resolve to get rid of it. This morning we went to a nice small deli for breakfast. It was mellow and quiet. Except for 3 tall dudes, all yelling about how stoned they were

I’m in Massachusetts and I’m glad it’s at least technically illegal to take it in public. Remember, this product can be smoked. We finally got cigarettes banned in many places, now this. I have sinus problems and also I’m heading to work, you asshole I do NOT want to smell like your skunky weed.

Make a civil rights point with jokes about a persecuted group of people. Yeah, that outta work.

That’s correct, city kids I totally understand. However, in college I was meeting mostly suburban kids from far more affluent families than my own, who had never learned how to swim. That’s one reason why it surprised me.

On a somewhat unrelated topic - I was just chatting with someone about swimming. I was taught by age 2 or 3 just to get used to being in water, by age 6 I took swimming lessons at overnight horse camp (my single mom scraped the money together so I could go) and took lessons until I graduated high school. I did a lot

I’ve been saying forever that we need to respect our elders. Ageism is the one of the last last unquestioned discrimination practices in our country. I am in my 40s and way more fit than I was in my 20s. I hope to find the fountain of youth but until then this swimmer is proving that our elders do not just sit around

I see kids when they’re asked to ”draw” a bird or whatever the animal subject is. Some simply grab the crayon, attack the paper for one second, leave angry scribbles then run off. I swear to god, the parents usually shriek for joy about how nice the drawing is. That’s a drawing???

Secretary Clinton had planned to use funds from the military budget to end illegal wildlife poaching. It is second only to drugs in funding terrorism and that was her pitch to moderate Republicans to get them on board with the plan.

No kidding. “Opioid epidemic continues, will be the subject of new Ken Burns documentary about iconic stories in New England”. 😡
