Didn’t Rubio himself say he needed to win Florida to stay in the race? (I’m trying to find the link but Google keeps showing me primary results...I’ll keep looking.)

You just nailed why I never got into Breaking Bad! That scene in the pilot where Walter’s wife gives him a hand job on his birthday while talking about the list of chores he needs to do is so Franzen.

Hey everybody, the NYT just called Florida for Trump, so let’s post our farewells to Marco Rubio! Byeeeeeee Marco, you woman-hating, secretly extremist, robotic dingus. I will never forget how hilarious it was when you trolled Trump into mentioning his wee-wee at a debate. (Also, you were the cute one.)

That lava cake is definitely the worst thing ever. The dog bounding into the ocean is the best thing ever.

I didn’t mind The Corrections either. I read it killing time at my grandma’s house, and I was like, “Sure, whatever.” After how bad Freedom was, I can only assume The Corrections must have been pretty terrible, too.

You are so good at this! Are you sure you’re not Jonathan Franzen?

THE ANNOYINGEST. Everyone I know in real life hated it, and yet it inexplicably got great reviews.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, and you bet your sweet ass! “Pam’s garden had gone to seed, but certain corners still recalled, if you squinted, the vestiges of the lush immaculateness that had made the garden such a source of admiration in earlier days.” (The garden is a metaphor for Pam’s vagina. And, like, America.)

Let’s file a class-action suit!

How much do you guys wanna pay me to write a Jonathan Franzen novel? It’s about a dissatisfied upper-middle-class white genius who doesn’t feel challenged by his wife. But it’s really about, like, America.

In Cruz’s case, the prostitute thing might actually humanize him.

Oh my God, the Hugo Schwyzer of 1970s Italy!!!

Right! There are a lot of men who are totally down with the cause and can write excellent things about women and women’s issues, but I think it’s hard for men to write with that degree of perceptiveness and rage about things they can’t have experienced, acutely, again and again. Like, all the different types of ways

I’m not saying it lets McCain off the hook, but aren’t they two different things?

The AP article says it’s run by a John McCain aide, not by the actual McCain.

Good points. I love those devices and the lines they blur, personally! Are you gonna stick with the books?

And Trump’s mobilized that population.

He shouted her out in some interview or another. I was like, ‘You are the personification of everything she hates, you fucking hack.’ I hope all his fans read Elena Ferrante because of that interview and then realize how bad Franzen sucks in comparison.

I loved the books consistently (I was hooked through the prologue) but I fell in and out of love with all the major characters over and over and over.
