The '49 Ford set the template for all modern sedans ever since. The GM cars and even more so Chryslers were postwar versions of prewar concepts if you really look at them, but the Ford was not, other than the flat plane split windshield. (Chryslers were also, but GM used split curved glass. Lincolns were one piece

Making it even more Murican.

They came out before Fiat. Improved with a facelift now, done by Americans. It isn't like they are on a Punto platform or something. Maybe some Mercedes in there though.

That's cheating. It's from before Dodge inspired every pickup truck to have huge semitruck-style blocky giant chrome cliff face faces.

They may be simple and rugged, but are no doubt heavy and lacking safety anything and are complex to assemble and not made to be put together with any automation or robots. They probably need ten times the labor input to assemble than a modern car. India is a country with such a level of inequality and class prejudice

Nancy Pelosi looks good for her age and besides that is a great legislator. For non-US people, she is used as an anti-icon by the right wing in the United States because she is older, a woman, in powerful positions, smart, reasonable, represents her constituency well, and represents the San Francisco area, which of

Those cars are totally awesome. Didn't even seem real to me until I checked out their website. If I were a rich man....(sing along everyone).

Yes, Montreal and Paris (I think).

Maybe they meant to write "narrower."

They had a Cherokee on display in NYC before they came out. I got a free mug, but didn't win the $45,000 toward an FCA vehicle lottery.

Needs hub caps.

Dear Jalopnik: Please add a flagging function to your weird comment system that puts your comment in a text box for no reason when you type it. Why? Well there are about ten good reasons in these comments alone.

Cranberries.

Right. GM needed five very overlapping brands. Did you notice Oldsmobile was already gone?

It took a while to figure out how to have the same wheels powering and steering without a solid axle. Constant velocity joints with boots etc. Cars mostly had solid rear axles because it's simpler also. And in the far olden days there was not much driveline/transmission hump with RWD because the body was higher off

Oh, I use the Formatting options up there on the right in blue, which displays the hidden photo icon. Then I use the browsing option to find the photo which I put on my desktop for convenience. Don't click Insert, just wait.
