Of course, not to directly compare, but when a Comet cracked it didn't matter where you are sitting. If I remember correctly, in the more usual survivable crash the first class tends to get the worst. Ha ha serves the plutocrats right.

Thanks! I knew about the Comet but never saw that photo.
That's really a Cavalier of course.
No one else has done the retro American 2 door hardtop recalling roof design which is kind of cool.
It's the next GM minivan, which no one bought either, so they put a hoodlike shape on it and pretended it was a different vehicle. Maybe they were also hoping it would do OK on crash tests then.
Actually if I remember correctly the problem with the Vega was that it had revolutionary hardened aluminum cylinders instead of iron liners, and the brilliant idea didn't work and the engines were worn out in short order. My mother was looking for a used car back then and said all the Vegas are advertised as having…
Oh yeah I forgot. Huge trunk.
No no no those are awesome. Huge inside, big windows, retro half wheel opening in the back and kind of early 60's look in the back in general, clean lines, and a GM V6 - I think a 3.8 - that had a good rep and gave pretty good mpg. I was hoping they were so unfashionable when they got to be a few years old that they…
Based on, well mostly the same as. the original real Cavalier that established its reputation before the sleeker one pictured in the article.
No side markers in the US. On some imported cars they make a blank fender, on some in the past they filled the hole with a badge or something, and on some imported cars they just leave them wired up.
That was in the past of 50-60 years ago. But yes, the coolest thing ever. Usually with fender skirts and the top half of the headlight with a silver cover.
I don't think tail lights are about looking good as a primary consideration. And LEDs change the whole thing anyway.
The brake light doubling as turn signal is a many decade old tradition with American cars. Often one bulb with two filaments. But everything will be LEDs soon anyway.
Winner, ding ding ding.
By that I assume you mean worst color ever?
No, but the wheelbases are different on each side.
It's probably plastic cladding which is necessarily beveled.
Well, saving 5 or 6 hundred bucks when you bonk something or it bonks you at 5 mph seems like a good idea.
The AMC designed interiors were too plain and the PRV V6 was apparently unreliable junk in everything it was ever in. But it was roomier than a Taurus and more aerodynamic than it looked. And it had a badge on it to explain it was a Giugiaro design. The advertising was terrible and no one wanted to buy something…
