This is actually an outstanding idea for places with street parking. Now after installing them make sure you do the maintenance on them so people can know they will work when they need them. “so operators know immediately when the charger needs repair.” I will believe that when I see it.  All the other non Tesla EV

Trump rarely knows what the fuck he’s talking about, never mind actually understanding the ramifications of what he’s saying. I’d say it’s a toss up for Elon. He has enough money to (personally) weather most things, the actual health of his companies be damned, but there’s no guarantee Trump will be a boon for him.

Yeah, speaking as a homeowner who weathered the last bubble, this is not the boon you hope it will be. Your buying power, and your ability to secure financing, will likely both decrease. I lost a third of my equity over night in 2008, but nobody was clamoring to buy my place, because they couldn’t. A more rational

You are assuming that the housing market drops but your wealth and spending power isn’t similarly eroded?

Terrible take. I want to get out of my vehicle and be right where I need to pump. I’ve had cars with it on the passenger side. No bueno. It’s very easy to not run out of gas. If you’re running out of gas that often, maybe hang up the keys.

Wrong.

On a Ridgeline or a Maverick maybe, but there’s no “centering” a main fuel tank around a driveshaft.

Yes. We need to call out the shit articles so Static Media (Jalopnik’s new owners) can weed out the bad writers

You weigh 272 pounds?

Snarky, Brownell.

Your entire argument is based on a safety issue that happens incredibly rarely in life (and not at all to most adults).

Why make the gas tank convenient for the one time you run out of gas then to make it convenient for the once or twice a week you fill up your car. I would rather have it on the drivers side so I can line the pump up with the door then for the safety benefit of not being on that side of the car when I run out of gas.

Times you will expose yourself in the station lot while getting out in a passenger side car when getting gas: Every time you get gas.

With power windows it’s not as big of an issue, but having the pump attendant talk to you through the passenger window, or having them have to come around to get your card and instructions was frustrating. I have only bought cars with fuel doors on the driver’s side since living in NJ and then I make it a point to not

I’m way too anxious to run out of gas. I’m almost 70 and never even came close.

it would be a damn shame to stand traffic side to pour in your jerry can and get blasted by an inattentive Lexus driver a Tesla using Full Self Driving.

As far as i know, all pickup trucks have the fuel filler on the driver side. If you are towing, you dont want the hassle of walking all the way around the truck and trailer to get the fuel filler

Counterpoint, I’ve been driving for 20 years and have never once ran out of gas. Also, what happens if you run out and are in the fast lane and have to pull over in the middle of the highway?

This is 100% wrong. I'm 46 and have ran out of gas once when I was a teenager. I have stopped to get gas countless times and prefer not to open my driverside door and be exposed to the person pulling in to get gas at the pump next to me..
