Agreed... but also apparently it’s hard to get extras in GB, Ron Howard had a similar problem with one of his DaVinci movies. It’s not seen as “real work,” so it’s hard to pull a crowd.

I love telling stories and creating worlds, but I don’t think I could be a DM either... I can’t think linearly like that (which is also why I can’t play chess). My mind just keeps jumping ahead and playing around with possibilities...

I think one reason it comes off as brutal is that it’s all one continuous take, there’s no cut to hide anything, no breathing space... there’s no moment of levity or anything, it’s nonstep tension and dread and it feels so real because the camera isn’t blinking.

I like the badge on one side, it’s like the car is wearing a Star Trek commbadge.

True true. I remember reading in China that they’d bring in a white guy to business meetings because it created an air of respectability (“look, we got Americans/Europeans interested in us, you can trust us.”) so why wouldn’t that extend down the line?

There was also an episode of Pushing Daisies about the idea. Which might be the most chaste version possible, albeit still ending in murder.

You’d clean up, man! “Doing the tourist thing with an old friend from America!” “Been too long since I’ve seen THIS guy!” “Next time in New York!” etc. The only disadvantage is that you might stand out more, so the more pics you’re in, the more someone might realize something’s up.
