Rather than the make of soap, it might be the frequency you're showering that's drying your skin, which is why I suggested only soaping the sweaty bits (pits and parts) and allowing warm (but not too warm) water to cleanse the rest of you. If you're constantly removing oils, your skin can react by producing more. Try…
I have really dry, really sensitive skin, and I've had good luck using oatmeal-based products. For a bar "soap", Aveeno makes a facial bar cleanser that is really mild and not drying that I use on my whole body. For a body wash, I just get the Johnson & Johnson Oatmeal Baby Wash — it comes in a huge pump bottle and is…
You've gotten a lot of advice from other people, but I just wanted to add that Vitamin E oil on the cracked skin can really help right away. Lotion is a better long term solution for preventing cracked skin, but Vitamin E oil is good for immediate relief when the skin is already chapped.
Fellow crappy skin person here. I use a mix of coconut oil & shea butter. You can whip them in a blender to make things easier to spread. Both are very good for the skin & help heal it. Kind of smelly & takes forever to seep into skin but it's made a huge difference.
You continue showering every day but you cream dat shiz UP!
Strangely, the drier your skin is, the oilier it gets. I was "hooked" on astringents for a long time until a makeup artist explained. Better moisturizer, less oil. For the hair, you can wash with just conditioner to prevent drying. The conditioner bonds with the hair and "lifts" the oil and dirt away from the scalp…
Skin and hair can get oily when it's compensating for dryness... weirdly the solution is supposed to be moisturizing, often with an oil, like coconut oil. If you work a bunch of it into your skin and then remove with a warm wet washcloth, your skin gets clean but not dried out. If you're used to the squeaky clean…
I have the same problem. It sucks but I only have the basic answers. Use lotion on your limbs. People like us really do need to shower everyday to remove excess oil.
Fellow night-sweater here (with oily face, scalp, and "trunk). I shower every morning and would have hideously dry legs and arms if not for using a body oil on my wet skin immediately following my shower. I don't even need to moisturize the rest of me; my oiliness comes back almost immediately everywhere else.
Are you African American? I just ask because most of us suffer from dry skin, but still shower daily. Just get a really good lotion like Nivea and Eucerin and slather up as soon as you dry off. You can also use vaseline if your budget is tight. In the summer, I can get away with baby oil or something lighter. Just…
lotion muthafucka (I mean that in a friendly way). don't you have any black friends? its called ash.
Aww you poor baby. My dude gets the night sweats and the rank is real. He showers daily and then again after a run. Get some shea butter, coconut oil and jojoba oil. Mix about 4 parts shea butter, 1 part coconut and a few drops of jojoba oil and start rubbing that over all your extremities after every shower (make…
I found when I started to shower slightly less frequently my skin eventually sorted itself out.... if you are sweating in your sleep make sure ALL of your bedding is cotton or another natural fibre I find that helps a lot.
Use cooler water when you shower, as warmer water dries your skin. Also try only soaping your pits and between your legs. Source: I have psoriasis, so hot showers and harsh soaps dry me out. Good luck!
Huh. So that must make me white and my brother somehow Ethnic? My mom might have some explaining to do.
I used to work with a girl who would say things like Naya Rivera. She was a racist asshole.
Somewhere in the Northwest, Ben Gibbard is writing a bummer of a song about this...but he was gonna write a bummer of a song anyway, he just has a topic now.
Murder-suicide pact, probs.
true story: my husband and i farted at the same time last night. i think we're on another level now.
