Wasn’t it public knowledge that Alexis was HIV positive? I feel like it was Alexis who revealed this. Having full-blown AIDS is different than being HIV positive of course, but it sounds like perhaps Alexis was battling multiple conditions on top of the HIV.

The fact that the beef stroganoff bit was a comment from her son made it cool for me, as he obviously knew her first and foremost as “Mom.” If this information would have been included without that context, it would have bothered me more.

My mother-in-law converted from the Baptist faith to Catholicism to marry my father-in-law. I think she resents it too. She got really pissy when she found out I wasn’t converting for my husband.

I actually went to HR before I left with emails showing some of the harassment that was happening. They seemed sympathetic and said I wasn’t the first person who had complained (I was far from the only person to have problems with our management), but nothing happened.

I agree. While I’m sure this move was a satisfying one for her, it likely wasn’t a prudent one. I left a truly toxic workplace this past February, run by three of the most mean-spirited and manipulative women I have ever met. They bullied and harassed anyone who wasn’t one of their favorites and soured relationships…

Right?!? I’d think that would be a perfect way for designers to challenge their abilities, expand their repertoires, and set them apart from their competition. For an up and coming designer, I think it would be a terrific opportunity to get their work seen.

Wow. I can understand the city wanting to keep costs down, but the alternative to not issuing enough supplies to women is having blood everywhere. I’d think the risk of a biohazard and the cost of additional cleaning supplies would negate the costs of issuing a few more pads or tampons.
