Mass transit is notoriously bad on the weekends. It seems all fine and good when you’re commuting to work (no it doesn’t, but I guess it kind of maybe comes frequently if Metro feels like it and there aren’t any fires or anything...), but on the weekends? Good luck.

Sorry! Didn’t mean to come off as sanctimonious. (Not being able to tell someone’s tone via internet is kind of a problem)

Thank you— this is a beautiful, well-crafted response. So many people are missing the point. (I’m also from a DC family and I’m sad about what’s going on in this city)

Yeah, I think we all agree that it’s silly. The point is that this is a historic church (along with many others in this area) and they pointed out that many historic black churches have had to move to the suburbs because of gentrification, even pre-financial crisis. They would like to continue going to church in its

I think it’s an evil plot by cyclists, but that’s just me.

That’s actually a super cool idea! I will read that article while I’m supposed to be working. Thank you! (And thanks for adding something substantive and interesting to the discussion!)

The Bike Lobby is real!

Since it’s a city, the first thing we do is 1) walk then 2)take public transportation (if we are able) or 3) carpool. No one in DC is rushing around in individual cars. That doesn’t make sense. People do that in other parts of the country, but it doesn’t make sense here, logistically or financially.

They don’t? It’s called gentrification.

Haha yes! Or:

ME TOO.

Oh my goddd I agree, it’s just so gross. That’s why our license plates say “Taxation Without Representation.” None of it makes any sense.

It is VERY bad. It’s taken a steep dive (but we’ve had ever constant fare hikes to account for lost ridership) in the past few years.

To be honest, I agree, but I think they’re trying everything they can. And since religious liberty seems to be the order of the day, they were probably like, Let’s try that! I just wanted to point out that their intentions are very different from someone like the Kentucky clerk or the Little Sisters of the Poor who

It’s a historically black church in what used to be a majority black neighborhood. The bikers are generally white millennials. So no.

This is very near me. Before people jump to say, “Oh my god, MORE religious liberty nonsense?” this is actually quite a different situation. This area is almost always a mess; DC traffic is already a nightmare, but we have a lovely convention center into which tens of thousands of people pour into weekly on top of it.

Honestly, they’ve probably got their tainted money in there somewhere. They’re true to do it everywhere else in the world.

Ohh I can’t wait to use this one. Usually I just use Somalia as an example of a libertarian’s paradise. Now we can add North Korea to the mix for some extra flavor for the abortion-obsessed.

I don’t entirely agree with your initial post, but I’m really sorry that people reacted to you in that way. Just last week I misread an article and posted a fun comment (something that wasn’t controversial at all) and was jumped on by the masses— for being “dumb,” “a fucking idiot,” a “disgrace,” etc. I don’t think

Thank you. That word is gross. The way people throw it around is disgusting (along with “whores” and “sluts” and “hoes”).
