I thought Silverman was hilarious in her Comedians in Cars bit with Seinfeld, but she’s too cringe-making for me.

I think they both can be funny, but a great deal of the time they’re just not. Schumer’s year was 2015—her show was great that year. This year....not so much. Still can’t figure out why her film was such a hit because, other than all the jokes that were in the trailer, it wasn’t that funny.
Yeah...but is there a funny bone?
Do tell then. What’s your source?
Am I? I’m basing my statement on what I’ve read about her and on the documentary Amy. Perhaps the documentary wrongly interprets her motivations, but it very clearly indicates that she just wanted to express herself musically and was not pursuing fame for its own sake (and didn’t actually desire celebrity). Do tell…
This is horrible. And the worst part: most women have a litany of similar incidents of sexual assault—from breast/ass grabs to rape and everything in between. And every one of these assaults serves to diminish our self worth.
I agree as well. My issue with Trainor is that she just seems all brand, no substance. Winehouse was all substance, no brand (and even when they tried to brand her, she fucked it up). Winehouse just wanted to write songs and sing; she didn’t want to become famous. One senses the opposite is true with Trainor (and that…
Absolutely agree: what he did was rape, but the DA was restricted because of California’s (outdated) laws.
Yes—sentencing is bullshit, but the DA recommended six years, not six months, so I’m not sure why OMG!PONIES! is suggesting the DA cut the dirtbag a break.
I found the article that indicates why the DA could not, under California law, charge the rapist with rape:
Wait: I thought he couldn’t charge him with rape because of the definition of rape in California, which must include P-in-V. I believe he could only charge him with three counts of sexual assault. I’m not sure if I have this right. I’m quite sure I read it over the past few days, however.
OMG—what a complete fuckwad. And your sister is an asshole.
I know, right? The name of that band she’s in HAS to be ironic.
I was struck by that as well: a man so traumatized by another man’s crime against a woman that he is sobbing.
I wonder whether the letter writer has experienced something similar herself and has normalized it to herself. Clearly, they both grew up in the same “culture”—i.e., one that values women as things that can be used like Kleenex.
I was thinking that too.
Perhaps they balance child care on a day-to-day basis?
You’re right: it does.
In ped parlance, I believe it’s called “aging out.”
I seriously wondered why there was a picture of me posted over the picture of Gigi Hadid and her boyfriend.
