I would recommend the collection: "The end of the world : classic tales of apocalyptic science fiction" compiled by Michael Kelahan (New York, Fall River Press, 2010). It is a great collection of end of the world stories from the late 1800's and early 1900's, finishing with one of Lovecraft's tales.
Has anyone had luck with the lifehacker instructions on rooting a Nook [http://lifehacker.com/5889158/turn-a-99-nook-into-a-fully-fledged-android-tablet-in-four-easy-steps] ? I was just wondering what your experiences with a rooted Nook have been: quality, freezes/crashes, etc.
Got no answers last time so I'm reposting. Have a good weekend all!
Happy Friday all. I am beginning to think about ditching my Blackberry 8330 and going with an Android running phone. I use my Crackberry with PagePlus prepaid service, no data plan just voice. I want a phone that has voice and can sync up with Outlook calendar and contacts.
I had the same problem with HTTPS Everywhere; the Gawker help desk said that this extension will not work with Gawker sites, including LH.
Pouring, dark, windy and cold here in Latrobe (s.e. of Pittsburgh). Leaking roof in my office.

Thanks for the tip Adam. I had never heard of StoryBundle. I have used Fictionwise for e-books for many years and have been pleased with their offerings. [www.fictionwise.com]
Has anyone been able to recover their old comments since the new system began? I lost a whole bunch of comments from old Friday Open Threads that had great tips from other users.
Groove Salad on SomaFM, through the iTunes player. Good stuff. Also from Soma: "Ill Street Lounge: Classic bachelor pad, playful exotica and vintage music of tomorrow." A fun station.
When I lived in MA I used the company Detectoguard. They were in the west of the state, however. You might find better deals on a monitored system by shopping around for the local alarm companies rather than national ones like ADT. I would recommend Detectoguard, if they are near you. They installed…
I hate the new open thread format. All of my previously saved messages, with great tips from the hive mind, have vanished. My profile is completely empty of messages/comments. Any ideas when or if we will get them back?
Thank you all for your tips. I experimented and tried to do a fresh install with 12.04 via USB drive. It worked, detecting my 10.10 and updating it automatically. Problem solved. Thanks again!
@akshay2000 I am running the dual boot on a Dell Inspiron 9100. I would have no idea how to go about with the fresh install. There is nothing important saved on the Ubuntu partition, so backing up is not a concern. I just don't know how to go about doing a fresh install.
@rino19ny Yes I did clean them. No luck.
I don't know how technical you are looking to get, but eHow might be a good place to start: [www.ehow.com]
Blessed Friday one and all!
Try pageplus cellular [ www.pagepluscellular.com ] I have had great service with them. They are based in Ohio so the customer service is local and not overseas. They offer a few phones for sale, but I just had them put my prepaid plan on my Blackberry 8330. The best thing is that they use the Verizon network, so…
