Is the end of gaming consoles near? People are going to have their PCs with Facebook, and if Farmville is an 80 percent gaming experience, how many people in the gaming market will be satisfied with that?

How about Civilization Revolution, Mecho Wars, UniWar, or Wesnoth?

I fear that the gameplay will be as sloppy as stilted as that in GTA. That said, as long as the amount of talking outweighs the amount of walking and "action", I'll probably pick LA Noire up, at least as a rental.

I didn't care for the pilot either when my friends tried to get me into BSG. However, I tried again years later (with Razor) and was hooked.

@Mokon: I dare say Kotaku nominating Puzzle Quest over Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles in 2007 was an insult to the creators of DXC.

@jodark: To whose previous GotYs do you refer?

@RebornEvilChild: When have Academy Awards become popularity contests?

@Enyzam: Is there a better measure of worth — or "best"ness — than sales?

@Zom-B: Perhaps. But there are a lot of genres out there.

@Mallowman87: Merely stating that RDR's triple A quality stature is "unrefutable" does not make it so.

@Sovin: Is there a difference? What objective measure is there for "best", save for unit sales?

@SapnaKolling: I don't find FallOut 3 or WoW to be fun in the least. Should they also be disqualified (along with sports games, FPSes, and sandbox games, all of which put me to sleep) from being anyone's GotY?

@hutch_a_butch: Do you have a problem with yet-another-cookie-cutter-FPS being labeled GotY?

@keiyakins: I don't know what the point of profiles is anyway (beyond, arguably, messaging). Never have I thought to myself, "wow, it's such a great thing that my brother can't use his account to access the content I unlocked on my account," or "I love how each member of my family has to pay for XBox Live even though

Maybe if Graces f sells well enough we can get Xillia in 2015 or somesuch. Yay.

@SageofMusic: I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree, as that Bison fight does sound pretty awesome to me. Any shmuck could beat the CPU boss with all their moves, but it takes someone who really knows the game to beat him with just one move.

@SageofMusic: I strongly disagree. I find that the most interesting gameplay results from the greatest limitations in gameplay. For example, Street Fighter II Turbo is vastly more interesting to me than Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Everything about the former's design is tighter, and the resultant player vs. player mindgames

@SageofMusic: I derive enjoyment in games from overcoming challenges. As the game progresses, I get progressively better — more skilled, more predictive, more knowledgeable of the game's mechanics. My character gets progressively more limited in order to keep the level of challenge interesting without resorting to the

@Spycrab!: Also, wireless controllers are a PITA to use in tournaments.
