I understand the impulse to believe that all their sacrifices meant nothing, the universe is shrouded in darkness all over again, and nothing they built could withstand that darkness, but did all that they accomplished in the OT really mean nothing?

These insufferable assholes ranting endlessly about the movie are incapable of being pleased. They define their fandom by a value of purity for something that never existed. Their nostalgia for Star Wars is not their own and they created a fictional reality around it and a desperate need to control that reality at all…

Yup. TLJ was a genuinely good movie. I loved it even more the second time specifically because of all of the nuance a second viewing brings. It is not perfect, but no movie ever is.

Can’t even imagine what these folks would have done seeing Han frozen in carbonite or Luke getting his hand sliced off. These things were just as shocking to see on the screen for the first time. Vader is Luke’s father! I remember stumbling out of the theater in shock. A worm that is hollow and has its own atmosphere…
