Hope you get out of the greys. I’ve starred you for now! I’ve long since given up hope about myself...
As a person of Dutch nationality, I hate it when people with Dutch names (often misspelled, but not always) show up in US news and turn out to be total assholes. It seems we exported the worst ones. I would like to formally apologize for this. Het spijt me!
this why you need an ad blocker.
The same to you. I know it is not easy- but getting the diagnosis helped me a lot. I wish you strength and peace!
Just when you think victim blaming cannot get any worse...If only she had learned her lesson in civility!
I was bullied within an inch of my life, and I still suffer from low self esteem and suicidal thoughts. Much later in my life I was diagnosed with Asperger’s. I self harm and have attempted suicide, but I could not possibly conceive hurting anybody else. In fact, the realization that it is impossible to kill oneself…
This. When things like this happen, people ask questions about guns, or about political/racial/religious background of the perpetrator. But we don’t ask if it was a man, because we already know. Yeah, women are perfectly capable of killing too, en when they do it is big news because it is “Man bites dog”. But the…
that made me wince. Bravo.
I guess I’m officially old now, because I have never heard of him. But that does not make this any less tragic.
that is pretty bad, but how did you end up with a declawed cat in the first place? Not judging you, There may be a very good explanation,. but declawing is banned in my country.
Can’t get over mr. Poopies either. I guess most people would change it (though that is not a simple process in the Netherlands)- he is a hero for hanging on to his name!
Yes I have the same thing.
It was“edgy”with violence, tastelessness and deliberate ugly design. That does not make it a good cartoon. Hated it right from the start, and not surprised the guy behind it is a creep. It kind of showed in his work!
Hated that show. Just for the aesthetic of it. Could not stand it!
Actually I think it is rather disturbing, but also beautiful in a way. Some mother mourned that child, but it still ended up this way. Did the man who prepared it even ask for permission? Did the child have a name? But in the end, it is water under the bridge and it is on display, and as a society, we are apparently…
Me too my friend. Especially what a funeral costs in this country, it is ridiculous. Stuff me in a cardboard box and burn it, and leave my money to my cousins and a charity.
One more thought on this, and then I’ll shut up- the almost callous attitude of Europeans towards displaying human remains may have roots in the Catholic custom of putting parts of saints, and even entire bodies of “incorrupt saints” on display. There is apparently no taboo on showing the dead body of a saint, and…
I just read an article in a Dutch newspaper that discussed the ethical aspects of the many, many human remains in local museums. It basically boiled down to, if they are from outside Europe, like Tibetan flutes made from human bones, Maori mummified heads, pickled babies that may be African- museums are increasingly…
As a person of Dutch nationality, I can totally confirm this. There are several rather awesome museums that are full of preserved fairly recent bodyparts of both the young and the old- the Boerhave in Leyden being my favourite. Nobody cares. Let alone when it is actual prehistoric material, in that case we really,…
