Ah, the Land Rover in it’s natural habitat, on the back of a flatbed tow truck headed to the shop.

But I have AWD, why would I need snow tires?

woulda never happened if he’d just sprung for the optional Thule rooftop cargo-box with optional side-mounted canoe rack. - this is the kinda shit that can happen when you half-ass it.

Lucky for him he is headed to a body shop.

I just can’t believe that the kick-ass bush bars and awesome light bar on that Land Rover didn’t keep him safe in the snow. Who could have predicted this epic fail in such an awesomely manly vehicle?

Hey.

That’s my hometown. Every time I go back (2 - 3 times/year) I wonder why I live where I do. Last time I was there I spent most of a day riding in sheer joy at the amazing bike lane system.

This is a systemic issue that is well documented elsewhere to great extent. The general consensus is that it isn’t that hard to develop car and bike infrastructure adjacent to each other... if you do so from the start. Stuff like protected turns and curb medians aren’t difficult, but if you have to install them after

Argreed. You should see how drivers freak out when a bicyclist legally takes the lane from them. How soon people forget the rules of the road.

Yup. On top of running the risk of getting killed, there’s a high likelihood that the person who did it will face no repercussions. Fucking absurd.

I stopped riding my bike on the road after a friend of mine was hit ON PURPOSE by an elderly woman who told the cops that bikes don’t belong on the road and she meant to hit her. No ticket, no arrest. Her pricey bike was mangled and she ended up suing to get that replaced.

Everyone else has been very cordial and diplomatic with their answer.

Hitting bicyclists with your vehicle is very, very different than a traffic stop.  Good to see that you have such great reading comprehension.  Maybe stop chewing your milk.

You’re in Calgary or Victoria? I weep for my circumstances here in Central Alberta. I don’t bike commute like I used to. I’ve had too many close calls, too many assaults (including getting shoved off my bike at a red light), and I’m getting to the age where hitting the ground becomes really unfun.

bro, the name of the website is literally at the top and in the link you posted, how did you spell it wrong?

Hitting-and-running from a vehicular homicide is not “letting traffic violations go”, but you probably get that trollup.

Fuck you for a thousand years.

Vancouver, I assume?  I love cycling here with the tonnes of dedicated cycling paths.

We live in one of the few North American cities with an extensive and well supported bike culture. So I’ve been bike commuting and feel really quite safe doing it. Most of the drivers know how to drive around cyclists (even if some of them gripe on social media), and with the number of protected bike lanes and

Just an assumption here, for the other drivers in the past that got leeway, I am assuming they were all white? I have not looked into it, but this driver appears to not be white by his name, so that is probably why they were quick with charges that actually match the crime.
