I was in Austin at the beginning of January and had not been there in a decade. I loved it a decade ago but now its not as nice. Its worse than a lot of the SF Bay Area and not just in the city but nobody does sprawl like Texas. The food was good, of course the barbecue was amazing. Its not really that but everything

First Gear: Porsche sells about 37,000 Taycans a year, which they consider a success since, like all Porsches, it delivers good profit margins. So if Porsche, an established brand that has an almost unsurpassed level of reputation and prestige, sells fewer than 40,000 luxury electric sedans out of a global dealer

No idea why people assume that Haas has ever spent more than the budget cap.

Texas sux.

wHy dOn’T wE jUsT mOvE wHeRe iT’s cHeApEr” and not understanding that it’s cheap because nobody wants to be there is the most peak tech bro shit there has ever been.

In hindsight, the stretch of time where everyone in southern CA thought Texas was this libertarian utopia they had to scramble to was hysterical, and quite brief.

My thoughts, exactly. Why wouldn’t I want to be in a place with perpetually-lovely temperatures, excellent food choice, and a local car market that actually wants the product I’m working on?

Probably found getting enough qualified engineers to move to Texas (even Austin) was a hard sell. Palo Alto is spitting distance from Stanford. Musk can suck them right out of the university, milk them for a few years before they burnout, and vow never to work in tech again.

I bet the stack of resumes from qualified applicants for a job in Palo Alto is a damn sight thicker than to work in Buttfuckegypt, TX (don’t correct me as I truly don’t care.)

DeWine not accepting any Federal help will also mean that while any futher fuckups will be the state’s fault, the public in that area are going to blame Biden and everyone.  The usual RWNJs are claiming that this is another attempt by Biden and “coastal elites” to wipe out white Americans in the midwest.

I think this would be perfect combined with a vehicle with retractable door handles, two things that didn’t need fixed made infinitely worse through technological “upgrades.”

Oh, have no doubt, I would rather have this administration handle an event like this than the last guy’s.

Public facing, gut-reaction, anger-informed, righteous indignation is typically not a good way to govern. And it’s a REALLY bad way to regulate.

It isn’t like the Executive Branch rolled back freight train safety regulations in 2018.

I agree with your sentiment, but your wording makes it sound like this would not have happened under a GOP led WH.

I’m not sure what’s missing here. This is a high level statement from the Executive branch. What else did you expect it to contain? If the EPA and Transportation conduct no investigations and fail to bring enforcement action - then I’ll be disappointed. But that will take time.

The strike had absolutely nothing to do with regulations. It was 100% better time off policies including using sick days without repercussion and of course increased wages.

100%. I don’t think you could ever PAY me to vote for a Republican, but Democrats absolutely fucked up here. Biden broke the strike, which would have pushed for more regulations that were directly aimed at shit like this.

Yeah, this is really just a “spare key” the way I see it.

I don’t understand. I already have a key fob, that I don’t have to pull out my pocket just to unlock my car doors.
