First, we need to dismantle the existing structures entirely. It’s too rotten, there’s no saving it.
Then we need to vastly expand and retool our resources to prevent crime rather than ‘not-’solving it after it happened. There’s no need for a police force to look as aggressive as US police…

Police budgets are by far the largest parts of any city’s budget.

More money won’t change anything.

We need to entirely defund then rebuild the PDs. With a lot less cops on the streets needlessly patrolling, and a lot more community based solutions to the problems we send cops on.

Had an acquaintance do the police academy, same background as your BIL. He lasted about 6 months on LAPD before quitting due to the systemic issues within the force.
