Isn’t the saying “don’t hate the player, hate the game”?
Kinda like the 2021 Nuremberg defense..?
It is. And it’s vastly preferable to those who start to believe that a secret cabal of satanists runs the world while eating children.
Vastly preferable.
During that particular time period, that surely was a large part of the new-age-y stuff.
On a broader historical view though, things tend to look a lot darker (and far-right/fascist) when it comes who the new-age/wellness/alt medicine circles aligned with.
Historically the alternative medicine circles have often worked with the far-right conspiratorial minded powers.
Having grown up fairly new-agey and with alternative medicine aplenty, learning about its history has put me off most of those treatments.
But grifting is as American as it comes..!
Seriously, anybody that looks into the history of the US (the last two centuries at least) will have to conclude that, yes, grifting is the national sport.
Vs the 200 million they (and doordash, lyft and a few others) spent on Prop22 ads alone here in California.
It’s drops on a hot rock at best.
But... why?!!??
That’s a very valid point, thank you.
Yes, battling climate change has to go hand in hand with social care/elimination of poverty, as those most affected by climate change are the poorest people on the planet.
Yes, but that smog test is based on when the car was built. Meaning, if all the parts in the car are original (or equally as good in terms of preventing extra smog stuff to be emitted) you’ll pass.
We’re currently at 7.8% of the budget going towards interest. So, we’re a ways off from 1/3.
Point is therefore moot for now.
I’m so on board with this.
Just like ‘guns are a threat to the survival of our nation’..?
Yeah, that argument doesn’t hold.
You do understand how intrinsically government officials and the fossil fuel industry is linked, yes? Their lobbying arm is one of the larger ones (sitting at 6th position).
Something like that, yes.
We’re living in the richest country ever. It cannot be that hard to figure out how to pay for it. The alternative is much more expensive and destructive.
Put chargers next to where they park their cars?
This.
“I think states will start banning registrations of gas cars (or taxing them so heavily that it basically amounts to the same thing) long before gas stations would disappear of their own accord.”
Based on what? Any precedent for this?
And more modern cars need to be up to the emissions standards of when they were produced. Meaning, as long as you don’t mod them to be less efficient/more polluting you’re good as well.
You do know that classic cars are emissions exempt, yes?
Since quite a bit before WW2 even. George Lincoln Rockwell’s rise was larger after the war, but he was loud and active long before the war. Plus of course, the coup attempt in 1934 to overthrow Roosevelt:
