Remember when the evil conspiracies were populated by people who weren't just power hungry, but were also kind of trying to look out for their families and thought they were pursuing a greater good in the face of incomprehensible powers? And the show actually bothered to interrogate its premise?

I do think it can be read both ways.

oops, I meant Borden there.

Oh I very much sympathize with that.

Oooh, that's been sort of on my radar for a while. Definitely should watch that one, thanks for the reminder!

I read it as negligence from the start. Without knowing about the twins, it seemed like Angiers just thought the advice was totally unimportant. Once you know about the twins, it's the one Angiers not thinking it was important enough to tell his twin.

Jackman impressed me so much in this, I'd really love to see him given more roles along these lines.

I do understand why people prefer Prestige, but I (obviously) think Illusionist is worth defending and offered me (and many of my friends), at least, a better experience.

The rope incident made me hate Borden from basically the start.

Yeah, it's the fact that I really couldn't invest in the rivalry elements at all that hurts The Prestige so much for me.

I kind of think the best misdirection is Jackman's performance itself.

The Illusionist is absolutely the better movie. It has stronger performances on the whole (though Bowie and Jackman are fantastic in Prestige, and the blame for the fact that Caine's character is a stock type is in the writing), it has a more interesting story (guys self-destructively one-upping each other doesn't

I haven't, but I'm really glad to hear that!

My experience is that I may not have as many ideas when I'm on my meds, but the ideas I do have are better ones and I'm actually able to act on them.

I love Tatum's reaction at the end so much. It's a really good bit of physical comedy.

Black Swan is a more obvious, sensational, and overwrought version of Satoshi Kon's Perfect Blue.

She's definitely more of a caricature, but the line about her being about the space between what we think we're supposed to be and how life actually turns out is pretty accurate.

I put the MOST blame on the people with the "zombie" versions of those stupid stick-figure families on their cars.

Only if it involves puns!
