That argument could go either way. For instance, a lot of prosecutors refuse to bring cases to trial, even serious ones, if they are not 99% sure they will get a conviction.

Your going to be excited when that Studio Ghibli park opens.

I’ve never heard of a prosecutor in the US getting jail time for failure to convict or a judge finding someone guilty so the prosecutor stays out of jail.

Sorry I’m confused. Are you talking about the couple dozen people affected by the noise if the event happens or the hundred thousand affected by the lost wages, lost business and inability to see a race that they could never afford to travel to see, if the event is called off?

I mostly hear of this distinction in the building industry. It is very hard to prosecute a contractor for fraud if they actually do something. If they do it wrong or stop half way and there wasn’t a clear contract in the beginning, which is rare with small projects like bathroom remodels, then it is hard to prove they

Your more right than you know. Prosecutors in China can get punished for bringing a case to court and not getting a conviction. So they will do whatever it takes to get a conviction.

Some like to call it the free market, largely ran by lawyers in congress.

You should have lived in my building in Boston. There was so much rat traffic in between the buildings.

Just thinking out loud here, but what do people pushing for autonomous vehicles think will happen to motorcycles? Will they be the last true personal transportation or banned outright? I can’t imagine motorcycles will become autonomous at the same time as cars.

I will add to this, if the dealer asks you to sign something BEFORE starting to talk to you, run. Don’t walk, run. I’ve seen dealers tell people they need to sign something to make sure you are serious. It normally says something like ‘if we make a reasonable offer, you will accept the offer.’ This is a red flag, with

I guess I am misunderstanding this statement from above:

I think you could have left a note presenting the problem and offered assistance to fix it. Of course, while I would appreciate a note identifying a problem with my car, I would never contact someone offering to fix my car. Sounds like a scam.

My argument was that the fact they planned for carriages suggests they found personal transportation to be important. I’m not sure where you are getting the rest of this.

Actually, Aaron recently wrote an article where he bashed an opinion piece largely because the person writing the piece did not have a degree in urban planning. I think it is fair to hold him to his own standards.

It is almost like Aaron doesn’t realize airfare is already taxed, and if you travel more you already pay more tax. He seems to be getting desperate in coming up with new ways to say vehicular travel is bad on a car blog.

I guess I can google for you.

They are the biggest shareholder for GM and a major shareholder for FCA, along with other assets. That is not counting the pension fund that they have access to and have been caught embezzling from and using to launder money for the mob in the past.
