I don’t like the fact they are skirting safety regulations by classifying it as a medium duty truck, which do not require airbags or other safety features. I wouldn’t mind driving this, but if it is not even going to have to submit to crash tests, then it sounds risky.

I’ve never had a problem with the Avalanche letting dirt, water or even smells in through the mid gate (gas can in the back is not problem), with it closed. If you ran down a dusty road with it open, then I’m sure it will be a problem. They can be configured with the mid gate down and the glass and tonneau cover still

I’ve heard of people putting a turbo on the 5.3 and getting more than 2 mpg improvement in gas milage, plus more power. Seems like that is the easiest solution.

After they did away with the plastic on the bottom in 08 they started looking a lot better. Now those can be had for under $10k

You can get one with a 5.3, 6.0 or 8.1 L LS motor.

These are pretty cheap right now.

Been done.

Avalanches are getting pretty cheap now.

How is this not a rip off of an Avalanche? Are they going to buy the patent for the midgate?

They sold a few hundred thousand Avalanches in the same configuration.

Ignore all of the safety/environmental regulations and build me a car like I want. One that will not be legal to sell anywhere with safety or emissions tests!!!

This was discussed in other replies. The numbers of cattle today vs buffalo in the year 1800 end up being about the same.

You mean to say there are no other predators on the planet? Only humans are viel enough to eat other animals? The relationship between predator/prey populations hasn’t been scientifically proven by multiple studies over the past century?

I think you did not look at the other responses before posting. By the numbers, there are not more cattle than there were buffalo in the US. At best they are similar in number. It is crazy how numbers work, and how no one looks at them.

Grass is grass. If you think the majority of the diet of cattle is something else, please look for new places to get your info. Generally, cattle are grazed until they are ready to go to market, then the spend about 3 months in a feedlot fattening up. So for most of their lives, they are eating grass.

I never said anything about you being a vegan. I just said it never made sense because there were twice as many buffalo, not counting other animals, as we have cows.

They should just standardize the location. I vote behind the license plate.

I still find this idea hard to understand. The meat industry creates more pollution with millions cows than there was when there were millions of buffalo or other animals?

I understand. It is tough to choose between the ones that built their lives around this idea and depend on it for funding and the politicians.

Not to mention that most of the ‘transportation’ carbon comes from transportation of goods, not people. There was an study that found 16 ships create as much CO2 as all of the cars on the planet. Construction accounts for 39% of the CO2 emissions in the US. 28% of CO2 emissions come from the generation of electricity.
