I’m trying to post this in a concise form: your kid is in an incredibly vulnerable place right now. You are right to worry about him doing things for approval from his peers/you. The replies where they’re pointing out that you’ve ruined his high school social life? They’re right too. What he needs right now is outside

The game is obviously wearing on him mentally, physically, and morally - no more evil hits Gronk! Save your soul! (edit to add: yes I’m being kind of over-the-top, but seriously, it’s a hard enough game on the guys while they’re following the rules - no need to make it worse.)

That’s a tough one - I feel I did a lot of the emotional/psychological stuff about 4 years behind my peers. Which ends up being really unfair to everyone.

I was just thinking that I kind of like that name and don’t want it to have a negative association.

Um, I imagined that and now my Jesus looks like Blade. Which is kind of cool but probably not theologically sound (the violence, not his color; I was taught I’m supposed to imagine Jesus as looking like the people around me.)

I believe it is highly likely this is the traditional situation where alcohol may have been a factor.

I’ve always wondered about the people in that old Sci-Fi show Scare Tactics. At least one person tried to sue but it wouldn’t surprise me if several people were injured and or suffered long-term psychological effects.

Can ESPN let me get my 2013 bracket out of their system? I need to determine how this changes my points.

I would like him to have a blood pressure monitor for his long-term safety.

When the picture wasn’t right there I knew it would be delicious. Beautiful narrative structure as always from Mr. Harriot.

Well, I mean, no, but there’s a difference between plain dumb and or funny shit and malicious dumb and or funny shit. I read Deadspin comments for the former not the latter. (So many wonderful Dad jokes.)

Yup. Not surprising. Also- not the same districts but in the same metropolitan area as Mira Loma and Pleasant Grove which have been previously featured here on the Root.

Given the ethnic make-up of Sacramento it’s likely he’s referring to the Hmong, Mien, and people from Vietnam and Cambodia.

Or do as I was expecting and post it immediately to the NBC Olympic website.

Still mad about this. Guy had apparently the skate of his life and a huge portion of the people watching didn’t see it.

He’s doubled the interest in tourism to Tonga, no question.

I thought the guy scattering his grandfathers ashes was kind of sweet. And I’m still just relieved that no horses were harmed Sunday night.

It’s so exciting! I’m also really enjoying imagining what each writer/contributor’s coverage would be if they had sent anyone else.

Wow! The Moms (& Dads!) in my neighborhood are very insistent that the girls do all the work- although they do keep an eye on things which was helpful when the poor 6-year-olds I was buying from had a tiny problem with arithmetic and tried to give me way too much in change. Those girls were set up at a truck stop

Why aren’t white leaders saying anything? Where’s the leadership? They’re encouraging the violence every time they mention the win in the media!
