Reading customer reviews, some refer to it as a collar and some as a collar/hood. I think it is rather like a cloak hood? (Reviews also state it runs quite small - too bad for me, your plus-size friend.) You have superior taste in coats!

The collar over the shoulder is my thing - hides the “line backer look” shoulder line! That is a really pretty coat.

I just purchased the T Tahari Marla shawl collared wrap coat. I got it for 30% off (and assume it will be on sale again.) As a short, plus-size person, most coats make me look like a linebacker/tank. the collar hides the shoulder line - really nice.
