I agree. They probably do understand that - or at least some of the supporters do. The thing that confuses me is, considering that yes the law will disproportionately affect poor people, why people who support this ban (who are also frequently fiscal conservatives with lots of ideas about cutting entitlement programs)

"Wright's ruling back-ups what Gov. Mike Beebe predicted would happen when he vetoed the bill. But, in a move not seen since the Reconstruction, Republicans in the Statehouse were like "WHATEVER, DUDE" and overrode his decision with a majority vote."

What's so infuriating about the 6 week ban in N Dakota is that I bet 3/4 of those asshats don't understand how the count of weeks works. Once you miss your period you are already 4 weeks pregnant. The count doesn't start at 0. That means you have MAYBE a week and a half to figure out a lot of logistics, like taking

Wait wait wait, people actually do that?! Put eggs in tuna salad?! I didn't even know such an option existed, those people are lunatics.

"Saying a lunchbox is a trigger for bullying is like saying a short skirt is a trigger for rape. It's flawed logic. It doesn't make any sense."

"I'm a Republican because my friends need a fifty-cents-an-hour paycheck, because it's so hard for millionaires to stay millionaires when they're so cruelly forced by the government to support freeloading employees by all these horrible regulations that try to keep toxic chemicals out of my drinking water."

Yes! This was intelligent and very well done! Enough fluff. Let's talk about what's real.

I agree! This is more in line with what I expect from a site that deals with issues for women. I have visited some of the places mentioned here and had no idea before reading this. I appreciate the learning and awareness provided by this article.

I feel perfectly okay criticizing female genital mutilation, regardless of which culture happens to practice it.

There are health risks to this whole practice: improper sanitation, not being able to fully clean menstrual cloths in order to avoid later infections, oh, AND BEING FORCED TO CLUMP UP IN TINY SHACKS WITHOUT ELECTRICITY AND RUN THE RISK OF RAPE AND SNAKE BITE. But you go on, defending "traditions" that are just more

That's precisely WHY we vaccinate. Those kids who are too young and who contracted the virus did so because of kids who could have been vaccinated but whose parents refused. The kids who should be vaccinated are detracting from the herd immunity that keeps kids who are too young to be vaccinated safe.

The reason that measles is in the population to get caught by people too young to get vaccinated is that ANTIVAXXERS ARE DESTROYING HERD IMMUNITY.

WHATEVER, READING COMPREHENSION IS FOR SOCIALISTS

America wasn't free. We paid the iron price for it.

Yeah, like she ever finishes anything...

Ignoring, for a moment, the fact that Dr Suess is rolling in his grave fast enough to produce electricity, can we agree that the second you "re-write" a beloved children's book for political means it makes you look like a fucking lunatic? Didn't someone else in Congress do this with Green Eggs and Ham as well and it

"dirty crooks, spying man, spending spree, smug replies when I complain about their lies"

She's not going to like how the book ends.

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are gonna have a field day with Sarah Palin this week, Haha!
