This is why my thoughts have long run along the lines of “we must defeat these assholes” instead of “we must heal this divide.”  

his base are unapologetic racists. they aren’t BOTHERED by his racist gaffes, they’re ENCOURAGED by them. The excuses for these gaffes that they come with and parrot? they don’t believe them any more than you or i do. It doesn’t matter. They are happy he’s a racist.

Life is not a constant dialectical power struggle. These are adults. They have power, unless you believe these women were powerless.

If you like brilliant, original comedy, and you aren’t watching Ted Danson, Kristen Bell, Darcy Garden, and the other fantastic actors on The Good Place, fix that. It’s the best show on television. If you have Hulu, maybe start from the beginning. If not, watch anyway.
