I also finally saw it. It’s not dangerous. It’s just aggressively dumb and semi-boring. I think I rolled my eyes about 200 times. It’s nicely shot, but otherwise not much there worth revisiting or even thinking about ever again.

Phoenix was better in The Master, Her, You Were Never Really Here, The Sisters Brothers, The  Immigrant, and Walk the Line than he was in this film. 

Oh the script is unsalvageable. It’s a trash fire.

Jennifer Lopez and Lupita Nyong’o absolutely deserve nominations in supporting and lead respectively. Period. Eddie Murphy deserves a nomination more than Jonathan Pryce.

I don’t even think Phoenix and the score are great. I think Phoenix is good. But he’s been a lot better. I think the score is overbearing as fuck and generally incredibly annoying.

Luke had been a flawed character since day one and that's what made him so endearing. The idea that he became Superman Jesus after RotJ is ridiculous. His flaws still exist. He's grown and gotten better over the arc of the three OT films. But he doesn't end them as a perfect being. He ends them as human as he has ever…

Jedi are NOT Superman. They have never been purely good or enlightened. Ever.

FWIW, I really liked Widows, too. I think Hustlers is a little more tightly written, but Widows is better acted.
